Still playing Bridgestone ball? If he is , why would he give up the $ or did Bridgestone let him go?

Bridgestone let him go. He’s been testing Taylormade and mizuno irons for awhile. At least when he’s at his home course practicing.

That putter did break on him last year. Broke at the nub on hosel if I remember. Looks like odyssey fixed it up for him.

Brandt was scheduled to sign a deal with Srixon for the bag , club (irons) and ball this week. He had to work out a deal with Workday to get out of the bag deal with them as Srixon wanted a full bag, ball, club deal.

Just curious how do you know this?

The key for him was the ball, he wanted something that performed similar to the Bridgestone. He also liked the Taylormade TP5 .

Yes bg3putts, if you don’t mind I’d love to hear some inside info on this - whether it be his thoughts on the clubs/balls, b-stone corporate, or something else. I’ve always been curious how players regard the manufacturers and what goes on behind the scenes.

If Bstone really didn’t re-up Sneds a few months after firing a 59, that tells me their limited US presence may soon be even more scarce. Maybe they’ll soon just focus on clubs in Japan and balls only everywhere else? I hope not, but no other reason to cut ties with Sneds when you have nobody else lined up other than marketing $ cuts (ie, no longer part of your strategic direction).

bg3putts,

Why did he leave Bstone?

Bridgestone has a new CEO who is not into golf and has cut endorsement funds. When Brandt's contract came up they offered a ball and bag deal at a very reduced rate. The Workday deal was a hat and bag deal and Brandt tested several irons including Ping. Srixon offered a full deal and as he liked the Srixon ball they made a deal with the kicker being reworking the Workday contract. Until the Srixon deal he had planned on carrying the Workday bag and hat and playing whatever he liked and use the Taylormade ball. I have not heard if the deal has been actually signed as yet.

Thanks very much for sharing the insight with all of us. Very cool to get that kind of info and know the “why behind the why”....even though in this case it’s disappointing to hear Bstones direction going forward.

Brandt rocking some Kapalua head covers that he borrowed from cart barn guys at Plantation. Pro-shop was out of white head covers so one of our guys lent him his, hoping he would return them. (probably next year, if he wins)

Send him a bill! A tour player with millions in the bank needs to borrow a headcover and not return it? Haha!

Get Gillis on the case. Tour pro steals headcovers from assistant pro....

Edit: In all fairness he probably didn’t see bag before it was packed by the staff in his travel bag.

He walked 9 holes today. Carried a blue stand bag, no logos or badging. I couldn’t get a close enough look at his bag,but didn’t pay attention much. We said our pleasantries and moved on.

I say that cause he very rarely plays the course, let alone walks alone. He practices almost every other day. But,today was a rare day I guess. He usually just goes to his area of the range with his caddy and practices, where people can’t bother him. So I’m assuming he had,or was trying, somethings out. Again I’m assuming. He very well could’ve been just wanting to play 9.
