OK, now the fun really begins. Only three players in the World's Top 20 are sitting this one out, Inbee, Jessica (Injury), and Lucky 6. As much as I like Muni, I would have liked to have seen Lucky 6 get the sponsor's invite. Amateur Atthaya Thitikul, the 7th ranked amateur in the world, is also in the field.

The weather forecast looks great with most sunny skies and temps in the low 90's. 'Could be breezy, though.

With such a strong field, and a lot of top players teeing it up for the first time this season, it's hard to predict a winner. I'm going to go with Jin Young. She played excellent last week, and finished 7T last year. Moriya should also play well in front of the home crowd. She finished 2T last year. I certainly expect Ariya, Minjee, and Nelly to be in the mix. The dark horse is Amy Yang. She won it in '15 and '17, and had a decent finish last year.

I'm picking Moriya! Like Argonee says, T2 here last year, and she's doing pretty good the start of this season too, with a T4 at Diamond and T15 last week. The home crowd will push her over. I'm also kind of hoping she'll have a big season this year; I feel it's been building up.

I also agree about the sponsor invite, I'm interested to see more of Jeongeun. But in their defense, Muni does look breathtaking in the traditional dress promo.

Ah, So Yeon is starting! I'll be cheering for her and In Gee.

Sidenote, I think the opening big-size montage of the players on the official website is pretty neat.

This tournament marks the return of Wie after wrist surgery. From what I can tell from social media she really hasn't been beating the balls, so will be hard to tell if the wrist will hold up through four rounds.

This article was a bit odd. Would imply that she's focused and has been practicing.

Never say never, but realistically if she can stay healthy for a few years straight, and win a few times (possibly another major) it seems like that would be a massive success. Got to wonder how many years she has left.

Is Christie Kerr in the field? I only watch LPGA if she's playing. Feisty and fetching!

Yes, Cristie is in the field. She's playing with Amy Olsen and Lindy Duncan for the first two rounds.

No 1? Not a chance. For starters, she can't stay healthy. She has 5 wins in 11 seasons, or less than 0.5 wins per season. The current #1 has been averaging 3 wins a year over the past three seasons. Michelle has managed only 1 win in the past 3 years.

She's only 29 years old. In theory she could play for another 12 years like Cristie, or or 15 years like Karrie. I'm guessing she'll hang it up in 5 to 6 years.

You guys are more direct than me. But I agree; I'm guessing about 5 more years and I would consider 5 wins (including 1 more major) a huge success.

If healthy, I think she's in the group of players that could win about once a year (can't be shocked a year with 0 or 2). All things considered, it would be surprising to see her double her current output in 1/2 the time though.

I got Lexi for this one, with a 2,4,1 in the last 3 years I like my odds, but not my luck. How about Moriya and Amy Yang near the top. Angel Yin for my longshot. I do believe she will get one this year.

I agree, Angel Yin breaks through this year! So much talent, just needs four solid rounds.

Going to be rooting for In Gee and So Yeon this week, get the season off right.

Wow, Jennifer Song at -8 after 13 holes.

'Nice to see In Gee making birdies on her front 9. She's been a slow starter recently.

Eun Hee having another fine start as well.

Penilla Lindberg has really lost the plot, but I guess you can never take away being a Major Champion and beating Imbee in a playoff to do it

Let`s be honest here, Pernilla never had the plot. She was a rookie in 2010, she has a whopping 10 career top ten finishes. She had a lucky day. I`m not saying she`s a bad player, or she won`t win again. But she`s not top tier stuff for sure.

Michelle at -4. That's a good sign. Will she be able to repeat that for four rounds is the question, though.

Lol. I should have kept my mouth shut regarding In Gee. She has a hot start on her front nine, and then plays the back nine even. Ugh. 'Still, -3 for the day is more than respectable.

Save for Lexi, Lydia, Nasa, and So Yeon I like this leaderboard. Also I would love to watch In Gee, SHP, and Ryann O'Toole in the same group today. I don't remember if I picked her to pick up her first win this year, but O'Toole was getting close last year. Hope she gets one. Also, Ayako in the mix so far, hoping she keeps it going!

Glad to see Brooke and Minjee near the top, 2 of my faves. As someone who tracks all Brooke's rounds, I find weird how when certain players are paired together they play well, not sure whether it's a competitive things or just a comfortable pairing, cause they were both in the exact same Junior class competing against each other, they turned pro months apart. But between the 2 of them they shot a bogey free -13 yesterday. The inverse also applies, I've noticed that when Brooke was paired with Paula Creamer (hasn't happened in a long time) Brooke plays terribly, she's missed a handful of cuts in her career and if memory serves me correctly she's missed 2 cut when paired with Paula, like I said just weird lol

I never considered Penilla top tier but now she's not even close to being able to make cuts most weeks, she's usually over par most events. I'll cut her a little slack as she was just recently married and I don't think she had a lucky day, Penilla played great for about a month being near the top of the leaderboards each week .............. then she lost the plot lol :taunt:

I’m guessing she’s not here for this tournament, but is Gerina planning on playing this year.

I'm not sure what the LPGA maternity leave details, but I'm betting with a new baby she's probably not gonna leave the US at least in the beginning of the year. I suspect we'll see Gerina once the US West Coast swing start in about a month.

That’s what I wondered/figured. Didn’t think she’d probaly leave the country with a new little one. I see her husband is playing in Puerto Rico this week.
