He had an older Srixon driver in the bag for a long time until a couple of years ago.

 

Yep. I think the driver he broke in the final round of the Memorial in 2014 was an old Srixon driver. ZR30, maybe?

Your average Joe doesn’t care or even realise, but it’s still amusing to me that he is Srixon’s number one guy, but he’s never used their standard irons. Always custom versions with no VT Sole. Apparently he had design input into the Z Forged blades - you’d think if he helped design them that he would play them? Nope...

It was the shaft that broke. He hit a bad tee shot with his driver and then kind of banged the club into the ground and the shaft snapped. The odd thing was that he really didn't appear to bang the club very hard. Even the commentators were surprised.

Anyway, I am pretty sure that was at the Memorial in 2014, and I thought that was when he stopped playing Srixon drivers, but the WiTB you linked to proves me wrong on that.

Pretty sure that he is. Srixon desperately need to get something stamped with Srixon in his hands as a driver if they want to be taken seriously. From everything I have read, the new driver seems to be a good one but if Srixon's number one guy would rather go from the Taylor Made which had been into his bag into the new Callaway driver as opposed to the Srixon driver, something must be wrong.

He had a Callaway GBB driver in play for quite a while, thing looked like it had been dragged behind a cart for several rounds but it worked.

Was a thread awhile ago on how much influence a tour pros bag has on rec golfers and almost everyone said no.....read these witb of tour pros and guys are creaming their Jean's to get something they have, lol

I wonder how he came about the M2 tour long iron. CT Pan also played a 2017 m2 long iron. I guess it might offer higher launch and more distance control than other options like a driving iron or hybrid.

He uses BOARDS in all his woods, 8TX on the drivers and 9TX! on the 3 woods. And then an S400 on his M2 Tour 3 iron. That's not the first person I've seen with an S400 AMT Tour Issue, I think Dufner does the same in his irons. Are they like crazy stiff or something??

I've seen a number of tour pros do this, JB Holmes included. The ball flies lower for some reason with them versus the X100s, and they prefer that for sure.

Not crazy stiff unless he has them hard stepped significantly. The AD-DI is also not a "board", even at TX flex. Its a profile that has some definite load to it which I imagine is why he wants the S400s as well, he clearly likes to feel shaft load likely for timing.
