I always preferred how newports looked compared to the NP2's however, it would be great if scotty could make some non-insert putters again in these models (i would also prefer a sight dot instead of a line on the flange)

None of the various Studio Stainless Newport models came OTR with a sight dot

All came with the single sight line on the flange. The one exception is this...

 

Naked Newport Beach 1.5 , only made one year , 2004

Lots of Custom Shop sales generated through weights and bombs. Lots of prime real estate for stamps and paint.

You should be asking FILA, who owns the Acushnet Company golf business, including the Scotty Cameron brand,,maybe they are afraid of hurting the collector, but that can be fixed by adding something to the new ones which differentiate from the originals.

 

I am not a Cameron fan, BUT, put me down for a Newport 2, Newport 1.5 AND a Newport 2 Beached..........

I've got a pro platinum that I've had since 2000 that is planted in my bag. I've considered having it redone... But I'm afraid it won't putt the same.

 

I also hate the inserts that are out there now.

But I've grown to "appreciate" the scars some of my putters have gotten over the years, especially the ones that started out brand new. Don't get me wrong, for the most part I baby my putters and they look great, but I've got a couple ones that show some "character". Sounds like your putter is awesome.

Yeah I'd want the pro platinum finish again. So hard to pull the trigger... Not to mention the price isn't exactly cheap....

Incredible stuff and I'm pretty jealous. But if you want something very similar it is available from quite a few putter makers. Scotty has moved on to biggerer and betterer.
