Hit the 19 version with the stock 6.0 Catalyst shaft, and I thought it felt great. I'm not a huge hybrid fan, but the Apex definitely doesn't have a draw/hooking problem for me. Shape is very clean, and not too rounded...although I wish they kept the matte black finish on top.

Ended up ordering with the 6.5 Catalyst shaft, and I just got it delivered today. Hopefully I can get out to the range later to test it out.

Felt more like an iron to me. Distances were very consistent when I was hitting it in the store.

Larger address footprint than the original but similar proportionally. Impact doesn't have the soft, trampoline sort of feel of the original; would guess that's a result of jailbreak in it. Haven't verified this on Trackman yet, but visually the flight looks to be lower spin than the original. If the intent was to make this version hotter and lower spinning than the original then that was achieved, but for me some of the appeal of the original was lost in the process. Personally I don't like the glossy finish or the harder impact feel, and the lower spin (while appealing in a launch monitor test environment) made executing actual golf shots on course a bit problematic. On course, the club's tendency to produce low spinning rockets was actually rather unsettling, just didn't feel like a club that I could come to trust.

YMMV on all of that, of course, but suffice to say that the '19 version is a very different animal from the original. Others may see it as an improvement, but I still prefer the original and actually prefer the '19 GBB hybrid (funky looks not withstanding) to the '19 Apex for sheer playability.

I much prefer the original version to the 19 version. Just didn't feel solid to me. I wanted to like it since I am playing the 19 apex combo irons but i just didnt get along with the sound/feel. I hit it against my 816h1 and the g410 and those both gave me better numbers and feel. I loved the original but just found this one to be a little off for me. It might just be a little light for what Im used to now.

Played both. Original with motore speeder hb and ‘19 with even flow blue. I like the looks of the ‘19 more. Can’t quite put my finger on whether it’s the gloss finish or the slightly different shape. I think it feels a million times better. I liken it to stainless steel (original) putter vs carbon steel (‘19). Firm feel but not as clicky. I’d say the new is slightly longer and way more forgiving across the face. Best hybrid I’ve played since the cobra baffler pro.

I’ve got the 19 with catalyst 6.5 85 gram and it’s awesome. I hit is so far I switched from my old 2 hybrid to the 20 degree version. Getting mid-high launching lower spinning bombs. I can work it both ways. The shaft feels great, very linear stable feel. IMO this feels soft off the face and I prefer the look over the older version. Callaway hit a home run with this. I wish the same could be said with their fairway woods.

Need some guidance on picking either the 3h or 4h. Looking to replace my normal 3i (20*) with one but not sure which loft of the Apex hybrid to get. I want this to gap my Titleist 915 H1 3H (21*) which I hit about 230y and my 4i (24*) which I hit 200y. For the accounts above it sounds like this hybrid plays more like an iron so the Apex 3h is what I am thinking. Figure it should be longer than my normal 3i which I hit 210y plus maybe an additional 5yd or so? The Apex hybrid has more mass and a graphite shaft it should go further than an iron but I am trying to assess will it really be 15 yards shorter than my 21* Titleist hybrid.

I hit my apex 20 degree hybrid longer than the h2 19 degree.

In your current bag setup what are your averages from 3wd down to 5i? H2 19* aside does the Apex 3h effectively fill your 3i yardage or is it about 1 club longer? I am guessing longer since your next longest club is a 3wd (playing normal loft and length?)

I get around 225-235 with 20 degree hybrid and 4 iron (215-225) then 5 iron 195-205. It all matches perfectly. My 4 iron is a mizuno MMC mp fli hi. My 3 wood is 14 degree Rocket M6. It all works perfectly for my game.

How is the lie angle of M6 Rocket in comparison to traditional Fairway Lofts (like Titleist as an example)

To my eye, it sits up perfect. I wouldn't say its upright or flat, just sits flat for me. I just hit this again today and was getting great numbers. No reason for a 5 wood for me. It was cheating off a tee and with a decent strike it gave great results from the deck.

I have the '16 version, and hit the new version last week. I feel like the older version feels hotter and has a satisfying sound. The new one didn't wow me, and it probably was the shaft... felt kinda blah. I noticed the low spin rockets, total distance was more than i was used to seeing but not enough carry. I am between an 818H1 and the 16' Apex, the titleist with an ATMOS gave me more consistent carry numbers and felt easier to launch than the '19 Apex. I currently game a 816H1 with Speeder so makes sense I like the newer one.

It is so funny. I like the 16 Apex as well, and I tried the 816H1 and I found I had a tendency to draw/over draw that hybrid. My typical shot shape for the Apex is straight or a cut. I haven't had a chance to compare the new Apex to the old Apex, but just based on pictures I prefer the 16 because of the matte finish.

I kind of ordered an Apex 4H without even hitting it. I just wanted something I could rotate in and out with my X Forged Utility depending on how windy it is or how well I’m currently striking it. We shall see how it works.

I know a few guys aid they like the matte black of the 2016 model more but I’ve always been a fan of gloss black.

Didn't like the original but love the new 19 version. Looks better to me at address and my shaft choice this time is way more suited to my game. Main thing for me is to take a hook out of play and so far this seems to help over the Epic hybrid I was using before. Lie angle is flatter in the Apex plus I had it bent 1* more flat when ordering.

I really want to hit this but nobody near me has the 3h in lefty. I'd have to buy blind but I'm 100% looking for something with a little lower more penetrating flight, especially off the tee. By the time Callaway gets around here for a demo day, it'll be June.

Little annoyed by glued in head so I may actually try the Mizuno CLK first which I hear is pretty low spin.

I hit the #3 with 6.5 shaft at a medium trajectory. I wouldn’t call it low by any means. If I wanted a lower longer flight I would look at the 18 degree.

Not in lefty if memory recalls. I'm trying the UDI route but it's just not as versatile. It's only good as a tee ball shot...which is maybe like 80% of it's use, but I do like to bump chips with hybrids from tight lies and they are just flat out better out of the rough. Figure if I find a flat low spin hybrid I can make that work.

How does being lefty change ball flight? I think what the previous poster is saying is that if you want to guarantee lower trajectories than it would be better to go with the 18 instead of 20 degree head.
