Too many balls

I'm at the point where I've got 10doz and haven't bought any in awhile.

How many seasons does it take to lose 10 doz lol.

Don't want to become one of those people that puts a new ball in the shag bag bc it crushed an ant, but torn by buying more (sales kill me) and trying to lose them.

I think someone whose good driver shot goes 250 is never gonna lose 10doz without playing watery courses.

I play about half of my rounds solo which are practice rounds. Some of these rounds I try low percentage shots and just go for it, sometimes more than once, especially on a required long carry. I can lose two sleeves of balls easily over 18 holes but have a great time doing it. Fortunately I do not play expensive golf balls at my level. I have 8 dozen low compression Srixons, Softfli, and Titleist DTs ready to go for 2019 and depending on the number of solo rounds I play I may need more by next Fall.

I need to go on a vacation & play courses I've never played before, by myself. I guaranteed I can lose at least 18 brand new golf balls (that's a box & a half already!) without even trying to take crazy shots per golf outing/play day...

Op, that's probably what u gotta do, unless u are really accurate & have no problems keeping your shots in play.

I've got like 4.5 dozen stocked away and that will likely last me the year playing about 60-70 18 hole rounds and another 50-60 9 hole rounds. Thankfully living in LA most of the courses I play don't have much or any water so I pretty rarely lose a ball. A ball might last me 36-45 holes before it goes to my shag bag with too much wear so I'm set for a while.

I tend to play the same 3 courses a lot. Not a lot of forced carries, and pretty predictable landing areas.

Man tho - I'd love to start getting out of town more.

I occasionally lose a ball. Problem is, I find four for every one I lose, usually nicer than the one I lost. Having lost a ball that I paid cash money for, I feel compelled to play a found ball. Which may help explain the 30+ dozen new balls on the shelf and the big bucket of assorted used balls. I also have too many balls, and, frankly, see no end to it.

OP, like some others have said, 10 dozen really isn't that many, but if you are hitting them pretty straight they'll last you a while. I have 30 doz just waiting to be hit. Just when I think I'm going to go to my surplus, I end up buying something new and exciting to test. Like others on this thread, I have a problem!!! LOL! Gotta love WRX!!!

BTW, I have been known to give some away as gifts to other golfers such as friends and my father-in-law for birthdays and Christmas. I don't even miss the ones I give away.

Not really trying to change the subject but, just be glad it's golf BALLS instead of golf SHOES. Jeez, am I pitiful. I would be ashamed to say how many pairs of golf shoes I have. I'll just say this, I just checked and I have six pairs of black golf shoes. Who needs six pairs of black golf shoes?

I do also have more new golf balls than I will ever play.

Callaway Mavrik Max 3 thru 5 hybrids
Srixon z565 6 thru PW

All subject to change in the blink of an eye.........and I blink a lot.

I'm on the fence right now with 10+ dozen in the holster. I know of a really good deal, but pulling the trigger is hard with so many unused balls at home already.

I’d trade six pair of white golf shoes for six black pair. Black goes with everything. But white shows up cheap in my size on ebay so . . .

10 dzn and you are worried about having too many? I think last I counted I have over 70 dzn new, all are premium urethane from different brands.

yes, I have a buying problem and no longer look in "deal or no deal" forum

We could be brothers ;)

I see a good offer and I buy ... My wife doesn´t say anything because she and her shoes are .... don´t find a friendly word for that :D

10 dozen, you should be set for a long while.

I learned back in the TM TP Red being discontinued days, that stocking up leads to excess inventory, as newer products generically outperform older ones...I still have like 3 dz TP Red left, I use them in scramble tourneys where swing for the fences and don't care if lose a few.

Surely the aim (my aim) is to get to a point where you start the season with two dozen and don't buy anymore.

I have about 12 Doz. I started keeping count in a couple years ago; 2016 - 121, 2017 - 101, 2018 - 108. The course I play regularly has some real tough holes not uncommon to lose 2-3 a round. But I do have a few no lose rounds...... :clapping:

Shoes, 4 in house one on the way....... :D

Stay the Course; and my the Course be with you!

For me it depends on how many practice rounds I play. In competition rounds where you play one ball and look for it after each shot, 10 dozen balls would last me well over a year playing 1-2 times a week, but in a practice round with nobody on the course and playing 5 balls at once, I can easily lose 6 plus balls over 18 holes, sometimes 10 on a bad day.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just bought 8 dz 4 piece KSigs in 4A condition for $6 a dz because it was too good to pass. I still have 10 dz new KSigs and 3 dz of the 3 piece KSigs. They are next to the 6 dz ProV1x’s and 10 dz assorted balls I’ve been given over the years. I also have hundreds of “shag” balls that are actually pretty good balls that I retired. Heck, I even have a couple dz of the TM Lethal practice balls I got on Woot years ago. It’s a thing.
