Certainly nothing too special compared to a lot of the members' bags here (there's no sense in even TRYING keeping up with Joneses on this site...). Definitely not the latest tech, but I must say I do love my bag dearly and it's been a labor of love to get here :)

 

Bit on my game, I was an OK high school player and was single digit with a funky flat swing that worked well when I could practice a lot e.g. through college. Now I work full-time and am a streaky 10 but over last two years have been putting in a lot of work w lessons at GolfTec to re-make my swing into a much more repeatable and reliable one which is starting to stick. Goal is to regularly be breaking 80 in 2019 and get below a 7 handicap - lofty goal but I'm focused!

 

In addition to swing and course management and mental game, I've been focusing on doing everything I can with my equipment to make going low easier. You can see some of that in the commentary below.

 

Alright enough yapping onto the bag.

 

Driver headcover is from Cantigny Golf in suburban Chicago in case anyone is wondering.

 

 

In the past I always really struggled with the driver, and up until I recently switched to these woods this year, I used to hit an RBZ 5 wood off just about every tee. Note the hidden little Ping 3-iron in there - use it as a driving iron for tight fairways, heading into par 5's in 2, or when just feeling off and needing to find some damn short grass again.

 

 

 

 

Just installed these shafts in last few mos - never been fitted for driver shafts before. Club Champion + Trackman set me straight hitting bullets with confidence. Can't wait to get on the course (heading to Palm Springs next week for some R&R). GD AD-DI6s used to be in my driver but we cut it down and put it in the 3 wood which is an awesome combo.

 

These new(er) woods + shafts are putting up very good numbers for me and have banished the dreaded high right driver miss that would de-rail my otherwise good rounds.

 

 

 

Newly added wedges to replace the PINGS I was struggling with both on full shots and around the green. These grinds seem to be working a lot better and more natural transition from the irons. I like to have a lot of bounce but also like the leading edge to sit pretty low which these grinds help with, in addition to looking totally awesome.

 

 

 

 

New add to the bag - Yamada putter, same model that some insane person shot a round of 55 with. Honestly it almost feels too soft, like hitting a marshmallow (I use Wilson Staff Duo balls) - I like to have more feedback so not sure if this will work out yet. Going to keep my trusty Anser around for sure.

Up until a few weeks ago NOTHING was swing weight matched...bag was all over the place from C9 to D5 with no logic to it...so hoping that also gets me some more consistency in 2019. I picked up a swing weight scale (golf works economy one) so I can do the weighting on my own now.

 

 

Everything except wedges is weighted to a D2 or D3, wedges are D5-6. The black Miura K wedge (52) is benched for now as I like the look of the PP-9003 iron set gap wedge better. Irons have KBS Tour 90s + MCC Plus4s which had me swing weighted in the C's, so we put 5-6 strips on per club to get back to D3.

 

 

Only potential changes from here are 1) testing heavier shafts in irons and maybe going back to standard length from 1/4 short, 2) tinkering with grip options (maybe going back to smaller grip), 3) maybe swapping the 3 iron for a driving iron or something similar.

 

Hit em straight! Or baby fades and draws as the shot calls for :)

Thanks yeah the Yamada craftsmanship is awesome. He got some notoriety a few years back when the PM of Japan gave one to Obama as a gift during a visit to the US in 2013. It’s just one eccentric guy who makes awesome putters - he got flooded with orders after that. It is a very heavy putter head and I fear too heavy for my preferred stroke.

“The Bullet grind wedge is a dual purpose wedge. When played in the square position it allows the leading edge to get under the ball very cleanly, especially out of tight lies. When played with a slightly open face it creates more bounce to be played from the rough or bunkers.”

I hope this doesn’t come off as creepy but I think I recognize Vancouver in the background. If you live in Vancouver we should get a round in together… When the snow finally melts

 

My Goal this season is also to break 80 regularly but to be honest I’m a couple points behind you. I shoot low 80s on average

 

I also take lessons and got fitted at Golftec in North Vancouver. Check out my what’s in the bag I think we will have lots in common.
