Replacing Pitching Wedge From Iron Set

Curious how many out there have pulled the stock PW from their iron set & replaced it with another stock iron set wedge, or a stronger lofted designer wedge, ie Mack Daddy, Vokey, etc? I never got along at one time w/my stock Miz MP 60 PW. Just didn't look right to me, plus I just never could chip with it. Ended up replacing it with my Miz MP 33 after a little tweaking, and found it to be a much better fit for me. I assume I'm not the only one out there who has made a similar move. Thx

I have a Vokey 46 for my PW.

I have left the PW in my set. It is something that I have looked at but the issue I found is that a Vokey wedge at 46 degrees just did not have the distance that I needed and left me with too big a gap between my PW and 9 iron. I could make up my gaps lower down in the set with my 50, 54 and 60 degree wedges so I have all the distances covered.

 

The AP2 PW is 135 yards of carry, the Vokey 46 was 130 but I felt like I was really needing to hit it hard to get that out of it.

I use a 46* RTX 3 instead of my MP-4 set PW. I feel I can chip and pitch a lot more consistently with it over the stock PW.

Lots of folks play mixed sets - AP1/AP2; AP3/AP2; G700/i500 ... you might use the PW from the next "harder" set ...

For the first time in my life, I replaced the stock wedge in my MP18SC set with a Vokey 46 and I am not kicking myself for waiting so long to do this! It quickly became one of my favorite clubs, I'd highly recommend hitting some shots into a simulator or outside to compare.

For whatever reason I have always used a set PW with much more success than a replacement. The yardage is much more consistent with my iron set and no issues flighting or hitting partial shots.

 

For the gap down though, it must be a secondary type wedge, no set wedges.

I don't like my PW in my MP25's either! It looks way too big and I feel like I can't hit a soft "feel" shot with it. I am one of the few people who loves the MP25 but I just don't get along with the PW. I have considered ordering a lower lofted Vokey but just haven't pulled the trigger yet

My PXG 0311T set doesn’t have a PW because I like Titleist 714 blade better.

Very happy with my decision to swap in Mizuno s18 46* PW. Same distance, but better performance for me chipping/pitching/full shots.

I did have an RTX-3 46 degree wedge for a about 4-5 months but I went back to my Z945 Set PW. It was more forgiving to me on full shots, and since it's a blade anyways I could chip with it when convenient, plus I could still step on it if I need to add on some yardage when compared to the 46 degree

S18's are great wedges, absolutely love mine. I have 52°, 56° and 60°. Thinking about adding a 46° or 48° to replace my mp54 pw.
