best of last years 3 woods?

I am in need of a new 3 wood. Thinking about just going with one of last years models to save myself a little money. I know the cobra f8 models were pretty solid. Any you guys would suggest to also take a look at?

Most Solid all around: Cobra F8 or Taylormade M4 Tour

Longest: Rogue Sub Zero

Most Forgiving: G400

Most Underrated: Tour Edge Exotics CBX

I wouldn't count out something a little older than last years models. Obviously, rogue and f8 are great performers as well as m4. But you could also get something for cheap if you dig a little deeper. I was a big fan of 915 fairways and I just picked up an 816 alpha for $50.

yeah mostly just considering last years models because I can still get them brand new but at like half the price or 1/3 of what they cost when they were released

Titleist 917 had many shaft options available without an upcharge.

 

16.5 * could also be a consideration in addition to the 15*.

Check the Callaway pre-owned site. They sell "like new" clubs at a steep discount. Often times you can't even tell these clubs have been hit.

I can second Callaway preowned..........several clubs from them for cheap that had below average ratings on condition and came looking like new. Last one i got said no headcover and no wrench but came with both new in plastic.

Rogue SZ 3w 15* is loooong. Compared it to an F9 Tour today and no contest for me. Got a Rogue 5w 19* on its way :)

I can confirm this. I have a 13.5 degree rogue and a 15 degree rogue sub zero (got both fairly cheap), both clubs w/ AD TP 8x shafts at 42.25”. The regular rogue 13.5 ball speeds are higher when comparing center strikes, and regular rogue is VERY forgiving. Sub zero launches higher and is very workable either way. If you decide on regular rogue just take a look at the lie angles, anything higher than the 13.5 degree and lie angles get very upright quickly. Believe 13.5 is 55 or 56 degree lie, same as all sub zeros.

I really like the srixon f85. I'm currently gaming a f65 4 wood, but I hit the f85 3 wood recently and it has a really hot face. 15-20 yards on my 4 wood.

The G400 is EASY.... but I don't find it to be the longest 3w out there, so depends on what you're looking for. I just put my 915f back in the bag. Forgiving and long... The Srixon F85 does seem to have a pretty hot face but at $250 right now, I think you can find something as good for a lot less.

I almost bought another 915f head recently. So good! Easy to hit. Was between that and 816 alpha, which I just purchased.

The Sub Zero 15* checks most boxes for me: looks great, SOLID feel, muted/solid sound, and it is a hammer off a tee. Off the fairway? I have issues. But that’s on me, not the club.

Not sure if the Callaway xr16 fits within the 3 year window, but it's impressive. Kicked my g30 out of the bag, long and straight. Picked one up new in wrapper a few weeks ago.

I’ve got a Tour Edge Exotics CBX T3 13 deg that I’m very happy with. Long, low spin bullets, and playable off the deck. It makes me consider leaving the driver at home half the time.
