2019 Taylormade Spider X

Finally got mine and putted indoors with it. Definitely feels like higher quality/heavier materials went into this one vs prior Spiders. The grip was installed very closed so I can't say much about the alignment aspects of it....I couldn't stop thinking about the grip and will until I yank it off.

 

But, very classy looking putter.

Out of curiosity, has anyone found a good replacement headcover for these? I haven't owned a mallet like this before, so I am not sure if there is just a standard mallet cover you can use, or if you need to get something specific to size. Because, let's be honest, these headcovers are pretty hideous. They are good quality, but so white. There is no way it doesn't turn a shade of yellow and dirty this season. It will drive me crazy.

And R&F use velcro not magnets which I far prefer!

The Endless Summer cover was close to impossible to get, players really liked that one. This is from the Shriners Open last year.

The putter feels really nice off the face and the roll is excellent too. I’m a fan of the true alignment. Just enough to get set square,but not too much that it’s off putting to the appearance. I have one on order,since no shop has my length. Hopefully I’ll have it in week or two.

 

As far as the paint chipping people asked about. This putter has polymer around the face. Previous model one didn’t have polymer and it was just paint. I can’t see why this new one would have chipping issues. Unless you drag in behind your cart,or just abuse it.

Finally got a chance to roll this today in the copper and navy. It’s soo smooth and the face feels incredible. The alignment aid is great too. This will def make it in the bag by the start of the season!

If you have a slight putting arc than the 3/4 slant (slight toe hang), if you have a more straight back and straight thru than the double bend (face balanced)

I've been carpet putting this bad boy for the past week and an just in love with how balanced it feels and how easy it is to align. Maybe all mallets are like this and I've just been missing out this whole time.

 

On the fence with the super stoked grip. Will probably swap it over to the SNSR that I've been using on my Newport 2.

Rolled this today at the store and it felt ok. The new insert is way too soft for what I like but rolls the ball nicely. The paint was chipped on a few of them which is unacceptable for the price. They need to fix this or change it to a non painted finish.

It's really quite simple. If you'd been reading the thread since inception you'd have seen that multiple members complained that it was worrisome to them that only Rory was using the new putter and that it was concerning that no one else was putting it in play. The inference was the putter wasn't well received because of this. The actual logic was the greens at the beginning of the season weren’t as plush/good, so it wasn’t expected to see more X’s in bags until they got back onto the east coast. Not trying to argue just responding to the heat from before.

Yep I brought up the worrisome fact that not a lot of pros were using it. I in fact have one in the bag and it’s fantastic.

 

Has nothing to do with the performance of the putter for me.

I also said it was a concern that the typical spider users (Rahm, Day and DJ) haven't switched yet and I did say Rory wasn't a good advert for ANY putter, but I never said it was a bad putter. I actually said I like the look of it and didn't infer it was a bad putter in any way, was just surprised nobody else had switched. Let's face it, Rory isn't a good putter!

 

I'm also not sure how playing TM driver, rescue and ball, having two MG wedges on order and trying to find a store near me with the Spider X for a test session makes me a hater, but ok.
