Driving to a college basketball game last night, I heard Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt back to back. Felt like I was in a time warp. Get to the game, and I hear a bunch of rap, Baby Shark, and other recent pop songs. I feel very fortunate to have grown up in the 60s and 70s.

such a talented wee dude from Cleveland. Great sounds from him for decades.

Classically trained and an outstanding student in classical piano.

Raspberries to Huge pop hit creator.

I'm a big fan of Mr. Eric Carmen.

Raspberries were one of my favorite sounds from the middle 70's

This song is from 1974

Here is the artist performing it Germany in 2016.

Could the back up dancer chics ( fun they are though) wear anything more drab? lol

Well I guess silver glittery tops have no business being called drab.

Their shoes....? too sexy......lol

According to me the best 3 pack of songs ( on the poo - top 40 side of the music ) posted in this great thread you created Mr. B Cat.

Stomp is having to be posted by me. RIP Brothers Johnson. Awesome beats they created.

ABBA ! of course and "Cancer, My name is Larrry." and that grand flowing slow jam.

Thanks for the "ACE" in my book Bobcat

This all is presenting me with a quandary, so I ask those more in the know.

The Clash, U2, The Police, The Jam, Talking Heads. All great bands, all formed in the late seventies 70's but productive into the 80's?

Where do you put them?

80's definitely

Keep em out of here Mr. Hockey lol

But how about a request please Pete ( Mr. Simulator burnout guy) in MT. ?

I say you make (write me) me a little diddy involving the Mt. Rushmore rock song from the late 70's ----

Running with the Devil

I know you are a God fearing wholesome dude , but possibly dig deep for the ole touch.

What might happen if...................

You took two shots of Makers Mark.

You put on some quality headphones under your Patagonia ski hat.

You crank up Van Halen's Running with... song .

And start to snow blow your 3 mile driveway?

( full disclosure)

there too is a case of Iron City packed in the snowbank,

and the rest of the bottle of Maker's.

From a guy that was more into harder rock in the 70's-Foghat and such....

you wanted a bit obscure? Funny thing is I just mentioned this song to buddies on the course the other day. None of them had heard of him.

Some songs just shape a person, and this is one of them. A short fat guy goes to a sports camp, first time away from home. Wake up call was 6:30AM, breakfast at 6:45, be on the field at 8 and play all day. The fatty was granted an exception to go to this camp a year early, there was one other kid who was granted the same exception and lo and behold they were roommates. First time either had been away from home, both a little nervous, but excited nonetheless.

The teens across the hall were a little different. First off, they paid no heed to the youngsters across the hall, and maybe a grunt if no one was looking because they had to maintain the "cool" factor. For their 6 day excursion, they filled their dorm room with huge speakers, flowing hair, and a propensity for VH. It was 1978. Every morning at 7:10AM the decibel level of the college dorm would increase as the intro to this song started in at 10 on the volume control while they got ready for the day.

12 years later, the fat guys roommate was seen on TV playing for the Men's US National Team. 20 years later the fat kid owned his own pair Klipsch Chorus II speakers in homage to Runnin with the Devil and the cool kids of 1978. To all the young parents with kids in sports, realize early athletic success doesn't mean professional success, so let the kid have fun and stay out of it. Lastly, the allure of huge a*s speakers never goes away. When the kids moved out and were looking for "furniture" the first thing they would ask was, "You wouldn't happen to have a phat loud stereo system we could have?"
