Face balanced milled blade putter with sight dot only?

Anyone know if this exists OTR or for a reasonable price?

 

I've looked around but each of these things is pretty rare (sight dot, long neck blade or otherwise FB) so I haven't really been able to find anything that checks all the boxes other than custom options or resold customs

Never Compromise forged and milled. I believe the model is the Portofina. Absolutely gorgeously done putter if you can find one in good condition. As well done as anything you will pay hundreds more for.

Read an article about a new company called T Squared Putters from Buffalo, NY. Run by a 17yo kid who managed to mill a face balanced blade. His TS-713 is a face balanced blade but more of a mid-blade size. Prices range from $400-500 depending on what you want and get.

Ping Anser 5 is about the only thing you’ll find as OTR when it comes to face balanced blades. Everything else is custom or tour and has a high price. As someone who puts best with face balanced blades I feel your pain.

Tei3 Newport (not Newport 2) Long Neck’s are naked, so no sight dot, but no line either. Not quite face balanced, but close enough I doubt you would feel much difference.

Ya not a huge fan of the Tel3 feel personally, but that is on my list. Also looking at maybe the Scotty CLN prototype... Those are looking like legitimately the only non custom/tour options which is kinda crazy

The Portofino was milled and has a sight dot but it is not face balanced. Standard plumber's neck toe hang (4:30).

For sure, I gamed the Ping Vault 2.0 ZB for a while but didn't last in the bag. Looks wise it was sexy as hell, but I was losing out on consistency with it.

Ive tried a few of Cameron’s long neck putters and the closest one to perfection is the 96 Scottydale short cup which I recently purchased w/c hangs at 3 o clock. The newer version circa 97’ XA Limited is at 3:30 while the Newport Crown Tei comes in to almost 4 if I remember. As for feel to me the XA is softer probably due to a higher cup hostel which stabilizes the face on impact, if that makes sense. No site dots on either but a quick rummage on my kids nail polish set does the thing. I can take snap shots for both if you like as I plan to sell the latter before my wife trips into one. Lol

This isn’t what you guys are looking for since it’s not face balanced, but rather “torque balanced”, toe up at about 1:30. But I thought I’d mention it anyways as a good alternative. I just got this one myself and really like it.

I just picked up a Tad Moore Pro 1X. It's a milled face balanced blade similar to a Ping Anser X. No site dot but you should be able to add one. Some of the eBay prices are crazy but I picked a mint one for less than $100.

 

It has the Anser shape. I wish it had the Anser 2 head but the main thing is that it is face balanced and no sight line. Very hard to find as you can see.

After looking at that picture I pulled out this old beauty by RJB. Is amazing that alteration/designs less than a foot from the head would alter its balance (ie. S bend produce a heel heavy head, double bend = a face balance head). Haven’t tried that horizontal milling but may have heard it produce a true-er roll end to end, and may verify that personally in the future.

I picked up the Scotty CLN #2 and tried it out this weekend. I love the look at setup but couldn't roll it very well. I think the nickel plating is really throwing the feel off compared to what I'm used to, so now considering a refinish but not sure its worth it. Will try to practice some more with it probably

Any plating (nickel, platinum..) will make it click and throw off feel. It’s a small sweet spot sometimes a tick or two closer to the toe, it will make that nail polish awfully handy. Nail it and it’s just as sublime. Enjoy

Carbon putters have a face balanced or close to face balanced blade on which you can get any finish and alignment aid you want. They come out to between 400 and 500 depending on the options you select. If they have a head in stock it is a pretty quick turnaround.

Add a small dot of nail polish to the top line, and there will be your sight dot. Or use a marker or whiteout with varying degrees of looks and durability.

Nice, that’s practically brand spanking new! Love the way you frame the ball, specially if there is no dot or site line which is my preference for a cavity putter. Blade on the other hand is a different beast and will need a dot or line to tame them. Cheers
