Nice all the way around--- You will catch hell crossing those RR tracks at Tryon and Atando unless they changed them. I used to avoid them riding my hard tailed Harleys--- Yep I was born and raised in Charlotte--- North Charlotte to be exact

Lets see back in the day

66 Chevelle Super Sport 396

66 Ford Fairlane GTA 390

69 Corvette 427

69 Dodge Super Bee 440 Six Pack

69 Camaro Z-28

70 Camaro Z-28

55 Chevy 210 Bel Air 427 Built this car myself from the ground up

69 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ 455 4 speed--- I built this car from a stock SJ and a wrecked GTO Judge

69 Corvette 396 I built this one too and this was the one that was stolen

The last muscle car I owned was back in 87 and it was tame compared to the others not really muscle 78 Corvette 350 automatic

Since 87 it has been ratty pick up trucks mostly-- I was basically rat rodding before it was cool--- All of my muscle cars except the 55 Chevy and the 69 SJ were rat rods. For some reason I mostly ended up with 1969 model cars

That's a really nice list and what you did to some of them. Can you imagine the value if you still owned them?

Trust me man I have nightmares about that---- Would just settle for the Custom Spalding Elite 333 irons and Izette driver that was in the 69 396 Vette when it was stolen------ Actually what was left of the 69 Vette was recovered some 20 years later in central Florida------ Got a letter from the Police down there and called them---- It was found in a salvage yard / chop shop in a swamp when it was raided along with about 100 other muscle car carcasses--- And yes I did ask about my golf clubs and the officer I spoke to was a golf nut. He had read the original report and knew about my clubs. He told me "trust me I looked and I know about 333 Custom Elite irons and Izette drivers" I figure my irons and driver may be running around in Florida now in some geezer's bag.

On the Pittsburgh Craigs List, someone is advertising an 86 Corvette convertible for $2K. No pictures, supposedly red in excellent condition. I know that era of Corvettes has little value, but something's got to be wrong. A scam, probably. I've seen similar advertised for around $5K and up, in varying conditions.

Like the old story of a $200 Chevy and turns out to be a 53 Corvette.

As the baby in "Roger Rabbit" said, "Stinks like yesterday's diaper."

Wriggs--- More than likely been ran to death or mid to late 80s GM products had a myriad of electrical problems. Also those Vettes IMHO were cheap looking especially the interior. Being in your area there is no telling how eat up the suspension is from road salt. There is one down here a guy I know is trying to sell for at first 6K and now 5K no bites. That car came out of Florida.

Got to be something wrong for $2K. My late brother in law bought an 86 or 87 white convertible for $5.5K some years ago. The motor had been replaced, car repainted, looked pretty good, but the interior was really shabby. I drove it once, BIL wanted $8K for it. The car had the most sickly looking amber electronic dash. Wouldn't have wanted the car, just because of that.

Bought the Lebaron soon after that. More to my geriatric taste than a Vette.. BIL sold the Corvette, bought a Crossfire convertible, mint condition, only a couple thousand miles on it. Sat in his garage, under a flannel cover, hardly driven. When he passed, I'd have bought it, if I fit in it. My knees touched the back of the steering wheel. I couldn't move my legs inside the car. SIL got $8K for it.

Can't understand the mentality of carmakers. Why make a car eliminating anyone over 6 foot tall?

My father had an early Mustang which was a 65 convertible. He went off the Vietnam and came home to a totaled car. My grandmother had a 67 Tempest Lemans which was all original. She came over to the house one day in a Ford Tempo. I asked her what happened to her car? She sold it for 500 bucks. Someday I'd like a GTX, Roadrunner or Super bee.

I wonder who totaled the stand? Those Mopars are great cars as I had friends that owned each of them.

I;ve owned a 68, 69 Corvette and a 68 Camaro RS/SS. Tinkered with all of them and the Camaro wound up being modified to the point where it wasn't street legal anymore. Have moved on from the muscle era cars to more modern stuff with a little comfort and luxury. I guess it's part of aging. The closest thing we have now is an SL550.

Me too as for a long time we've owned Mercedes

'67 mustang coupe. Stuffed a 351 Windsor in it. It was a sleeper. Most every thought it's was a 289...

'71 Chevelle. I built a small block 400. 11-1 big solid lift cam worked up 202 heads. Thing had a tone of torque. Then I had to grow up and a car more suit for driving to work.

2 really nice rides and your sleeper reminded me of a guy that had a 57 sedan delivery with faded paint, some rust, stock rims but a 427 L88 motor.

Thanks Stu. My FIL (who I referenced earlier in this thread) used to buy a lot of Vettes. He was at the old Denver Auto Auction years ago and a local Denver dealer, knowing he bought a lot of them asked him about one. They went to the guys lot where he had a 1960 fuel injected one. Told him $1,000, FIL tried to negotiate the price but the guy wouldn’t move so he paid the $1,000. He still has that one. A short time later he caught him again and asked him about another one, same deal, same money, was this one. He also gave his other daughter and her husband a 1958; although I don’t know where that one came from. My wife got this one because it was blue, similar to her Cutlas from above. Her sister had a red Malibu, so she got the red corvette. He’s had a lot of old, valuable cars over the years.

The car behind in the picture that you can just barely see is a 68 Cougar that only has 31,000 miles. We traded for it at the lot and my mom fell in love with it and bought it.

I had a 67 Buick GS-400, blew the front u-joint going 110 and the car literally pole vaulted over the drive shaft. Luckily it was on a long straight and I just coasted to a stop. My buddy in the passenger seat turned blue. We couldn’t figure out what happened until we looked under the car and just started laughing. Was a nice car, very few left.
