Winter withdrawal = trouble

UPDATE! I bought another set of irons, but am in the process of selling a set and the putter that I bought less than 2 months ago. Thankfully some warmer weather has had me on the course quite a bit and tamped down the BST/EBay traffic somewhat.

My last round was October 30. It was a very solid 37 in my Tuesday 9 hole league; opening bogey followed by 8 pars. I'm playing great this year! Fast forward...

There's snow everywhere. My club's simulator is not hooked up, they're building a new and better practice building. Its way too cold to swing in the detached garage. And You People on WRX have perverted my sense of decorum and necessity.

Since I played last, I:

- sold two sets of irons, one at significant loss

- sold two sets of wedges

- sold a 3 wood

- bought a driver

- bought a 3 wood

- bought a hybrid

- bought a set of irons

- bought 4 wedges

- bought 3 dozen balls

- bought a 5 wood

- bought a putter

- bought a 5 round punch card

- bought a city-wide punch card

I'm sure I've already forgotten more.

The crazy thing is that this all started by wanting to simplify! I was playing so well, I could get rid of backups.  But that led me into the black hole of BST and eBay. And the minute I had cash in hand and empty space in the backup bags, I went nuts. Because there is snow everywhere and I can't play!

There is literally one club in my top bag right now leftover from that great round of 37. I need help. Deleting eBay app now...

I live in Florida during the fall and winter. We just came back to VA for 3 weeks and it snowed as soon as we got here. Since then I have bought 3 sets of PING irons, 2 TM drivers and a PING driver. I can't even make it 3 weeks.

Man I know the feeling. I played 9 holes this week and looking at the Chicago forecast, it probably was my last round for the year.

So, I've already started looking at my stats for the year and have started the annual "gee maybe I need change my swing to be a better golfer next season". Based on past history, I will start re-reading Hogan, Trevino, Bobby Jones and Nicklaus looking for the magic answer and will start trying different swing thoughts at the indoor range. By February I will have convinced myself of the "new" answer and by April, I will be back to my old swing with same old results!!

Oh well, at least I have a plan for the Winter. Now if I can avoid Ebay, I might have a chance :golfer:

it's called buy and sell from the comforts of your lap top, until you have to pack and ship them. the new box at the front door evens it out.

it's winter in so cal and 70* but i still do the same thing.

You need a winter hobby that isn’t buying and selling golf clubs. Maybe curling.

No snow season here, but I feel your pain. I don't have a single club I want to replace, so I've bought everything else. Headcovers, bag, shoes, gloves, another ball retriever, etc. I'm hoping that daylight savings time gets here soon before a Skytrak finds it's way onto my doorstep (and credit card).

All i've purchased so far is a hybrid that I probably won't ever game, but i've spent half the day on the Miura website.

I have absolutely no business even looking at those irons.

I need to start playing the sim again and stop thinking about what's in the bag.

I have lived this same scenario out many a winter. I've come to an understanding with myself that I'm going to buy some stuff over the winter. I'm trying to limit the damage though, so my first look is always to the big bin of shafts in my garage to see what I can re-do rather than replace. Sometimes that works.

I just had a BIN offer rejected on the bay, otherwise I would have added a new driver shaft to my winter list which so far only includes one fairway wood...unless anyone has a non-TM graphics RIP'd VS proto driver shaft for sale...(PM me)

Edit: Add a driver to that list now, so I don't need the Rip'd VS anymore. I mean, unless someone has one or something.
