Are we really? Wtf! I've been thinking of driving down to exit 8 to hit a bucket.I've got to test the F9 outdoors to see if I'm keeping it or my G LST. But the damn weather doesn't seem to be cooperating. I'm ready for the great melt.

I was at Tarks simulators this morning in wilton getting some swings in. (Shot 77 from tips at Le Golf Nationale) I've had about enough winter. Supposedly should see 60* here by the end of march....

How is the new Tarks? I was thinking about playing there this past Friday or Saturday. Just didn't end up going.

A few new courses added to his list... pretty much the same sims and software. different location. parking is non-existent. They're going to have to address that somehow, because he's allotted like 3 parking spots and that's just not going to cut it.

  • 3 weeks later...

With the snow FINALLY melting....I had the chance  to make it down to exit 8. Hit a large bucket & tested some shafts in my F9. I'm not sure it's going to unseat the G LST for top dog in the bag yet. Id go down tomorrow too, but rain is in the forecast. Next week looks promising.

Stadium in Schenectady opened their grass range yesterday. Hit 2 large buckets there last night after work, and the wind was not helping. Into and right to left wind was a big hit to the ego, especially with 50* temperatures. Contemplating a change in iron shafts as well. The PX LZ 6.5's in the Mizzy's visually have a TON more spin than the TI X100's I've been playing.  I'll give it a couple more range sessions before i pull the trigger on a swap.

Nice! The mats at exit 8 are in horrible condition. Worn down the rubber, heavy grooves in the simulated "rough" .  Wind didn't help sure, but made it fun trying to hit knock downs & work the ball with & against on the 1st day out. Some I pulled off, some I didn't. And  most I just straight out pulled! Lol . I'll be heading down to stadium once it opens. Usually opens  before courses up here do. We've now made it our annual 1st round of the year tradition. Plus we go down to support Jack. Maybe we'll see ya down there.

Got on Trackman for a 45 minute session this morning at Saratoga National. Had a few suspicions confirmed about the new Mizzy irons. The PX LZ 6.5 shafts just spin entirely too much for me. I'm 1000-1500 rpms too high on all irons. I've got a new set of shafts en route now to try and correct that issue. The ST190G driver however is spot on. Set at 7*, weights forward with Tensei Orange 70tx I was getting 14* launch, 114 club speed, 164 ball speed, 1980 spin. Smash factor was only around 1.44 as I was hitting some very cold ProV1's in 33* temps. I'm sure things will improve as temps warm up. Highest spin I saw with driver was 2350 which still is well within acceptable range. Playing 18 tomorrow at Mohawk River Country Club to shake off some more rust.

They weren't doing tee times. First come, first serve. We waited 35 minutes on the first tee for the multiple groups ahead of us to clear. Tee'd off around 1130, finished about 4pm. A group of 3 walkers snuck out ahead of us at the turn (between our group and the one previously in front of us).. 3 guys, 2 bags of clubs.... things slowed drastically. If ownership actually gave a damn about that course, it could be something special. I think they are just happy to have money coming in and could care less about course conditions. Such a shame.

Ugh....people suck.

Sad to see management @ golf courses not care about course conditions. Hiland has had better days as well. Sometimes course upgrades or upkeep is under budget constraints. But some places are more focused on banquets & weddings. It's where they make the money. Golf is just a secondary source of income.

I plan on hitting the driving range this afternoon at Stadium, then Saturday i'm debating between Van Patten or taking a road trip to play Thunderhart in the morning before the crappy weather arrives. 67* saturday means shorts for the first time this year!

New shafts arrived for the Mizzy irons yesterday. DG tour issue 120 x100's. the PX LZ's just spin WAY too much for me. Im also going to try going back to a different grip as well. Golf Pride VDR grips. 5 wraps under bottom hand, 3 wraps on top. just going to need to pick up more epoxy and some ferrules and im ready to go!

It always amazes me how dry stadium stays on that Sand base. Extremely windy day but couldn't argue with that temperature in march.

The wind was brutal on course, but managed to play decent. 41 on the front with 2 doubles, 37 on back for a 78. 2 birdies on the day, one at the 3rd, one at the 16th.

16th (par 5) plays 513yds from the back tees. Dogleg left. Hit a high draw over the trees into the left side of fairway. Had only 164 to the pin for my 2nd. Hit 8i into the green pin high, just right. Par5's reduced to driver/8i.... now I know how Rory feels haha.

I did manage to get the shafts and grips swapped into the mizuno irons. Love how they performed yesterday on course. Much lower flight, with visibly less spin. Also played with the AVX ball yesterday and was reasonably pleased with the performance.

Ended playing 9 on Thursday and snuck in on Saturday for 18, putting was horrible, and my drives were hooking, but irons were on f****** point. Ended up with a 43/38. Weather was fantastic, and the course wasnt too bad, love how it dries out easy.

Play of the day was a 60* on 13, spun back to 2 feet.

God I love this sport

Played Stadium Saturday afternoon. Went out in 35 2 birdies 2 bogeys feeling really good and just couldn't get anything going on the back nine. the last 6 or 7 holes the wind had picked up even more and just played so much tougher. 41 coming in for a 76 though second round of the year ill take it.

AVX is a great ball.

Managed to hit my new G410plus outdoors today. SUPER impressed. The feel is just incredible. The sound is perfect. Nice dull thwack. So easy to draw and fade on command. Going to try to get out to stadium on Thursday.

In tournament season, I'm a proV1 player 100% of the time. Figured after all the reviews I've seen on the AVX I'd give it a try. Flight is down slightly from what I normally saw, however, I dont know if I can attribute that to only the ball, or the new clubs/shafts as well. Definitely didnt spin as much as a proV, but with conditions as soft as they are this early in the year, the added spin isn't really necessary.

I'd love to get a round in when there wasnt 25mph winds sometime soon to really gauge distances and such, especially with the irons. The driver was phenomenal with some of the longest shots I've hit, even without roll this early in the year.
