Maltby ts1 driving iron.

Just ordered a ts1 3 iron with a fujikara pro 95 shaft to try out as a driving iron. Anyone give these a try yet?

Someone in the TS2 thread had taken the lowest lofted TS2 they could find and set it up as a driving iron. They seemed really happy with it.

Haven't heard of anyone doing the same with a TS1 head though.

I have the HDI and struggled with it everywhere except the tee but it's probably from the heavy S300 shaft.

I have a dbm 3 iron that is the same for me. I had a parallel tip s300 installed and it's a tee only club for me. From what I've read the fujikara pro is similar to the dg bend profile. Hoping it's a good fit. I currently play amt s300 in my ap2s.

Think any head is better with a Fujikura Pro iron shaft. At my age, I’m more of a 75g guy. But, I love those shafts - just so stable and consistent.

good to know. I'm definitely curious how it's going to play. I'm not beyond switching to graphite in all my irons even at my age. As I tend to get some elbow pain during the season when I'm practicing alot.

Yep, that was me. TS-2 #4 hand picked low loft and bent to 18*. I wouldn’t suggest dending any further otherwise you’ll end up wit negative bounce - my setup is 1-2* bounce already.

Still very happy.

Makes for great low runners out from under the trees when I inevitibly find myself stuck there as well.

TS2, 4 iron. Adjusted up one degree here. Used a hybrid shaft. Love it!

I use a Maltby FDI heads with the same shaft as I used to use in my hybrids and still use in my woods, a Nunchuk. I tried them with my Steel fiber i95 Iron shaft but that did not work out as I hoped. But with the Nunchuk these are very straight and easy to hit off the tee or turf for me, but I am a high ball hitter, and these help me keep the ball down to a beautiful mid trajectory.

I have greatly increased my fairways hit %, but give up some distance compared to my driver. But my scores are down, so I can't really argue with the results.

I’ve been contemplating a driving iron as well, looking at the KE4 hybrid. What made you choose the ts1 over a more driving iron specific club?

I built a TS-1 3 iron with an AMT X100 shaft for $80 total back in May and it's been absolutely incredible. I play blades with X100s in rest of irons and the club is replacing a 21 degree hybrid that I just couldn't flight down off the tee or during windy days. The TS-1 is a rocket and very comparable to other driving irons I've tried including TMBs, P790s, and U85s at less than half the cost.

The profile is thin compared to other driving irons and the blade length is very comparable. I think the club looks very good and I chose the TS-1 over the TS-2 because I do not like large clunky club heads and I doubt the TS-2 performs any better as long as I'm hitting the sweet spot.
