Lunch At Pebble Today

Recommended Posts

We've had so much rain the past several weeks and since today was going to be a nice day in the high 50's and next week is supposed to rain all week again, my wife and I decided to drive down to Pebble to have lunch at the Tap Room and to also give some friends that work at Pebble some of my homemade Limoncello. The last time that we were at Pebble a week before the AT&T, the Champions Walls was still a work in progress and today I saw the finished product and the wall looks great!

For lunch I started with a really good Bloody Mary and my wife had wine, I had the Kobe Brie burger with truffle potato wedges and my wife had the Blackend Brramundi Fish sandwich. Both were delicious by the way.

Hahaha!! That Bloody Mary is a drink and an appetizer!

Love that Tap room. Ate there 4 times and drank a lot of good beer with my dad when we stayed at the lodge right behind the 18th green on a 6 day golf trip many years ago. Played Pebble, Poppy, Spyglass, Spanish Bay, Carmel valley ranch. Just Incredible.

Best vacation of my life and sadly the last one with my dad. He passed unexpectedly the following year. That place will always be special to me.

You're right, you get a piece of peppered bacon, celery, olive and some type of pepper. Everything that we've eaten at the Tap Room has been really good especially the steaks.

I'm glad that you had a great time at Pebble with your dad but sorry to hear that he passed away. Hopefully your memories at Pebble with your dad will always be with you. If you like, I would like to send you a Pebble Beach bag tag celebrating this year's US Open. This is the bag tag that they give you when you play one of the Pebble courses.

Wow. Yeah brother, that would be great. Thanks. I’ll send you a PM.

Great move, sounds/looks like you had a great time.

We always have a great time on the Monterey Peninsula. We've been going to the Monterey Peninsula for so many years that I know a few waiters and bartenders at almost all of the Pebble and Spanish Bay restaurants except for The Bench. One of the waiters that I know has worked at Pebble for 25 years so whenever he retires he'll get free golf for the rest of his life at Pebble resorts. He even told me that he would take me to play Pebble sometime.

aloha is a good guy. He gave me a lot of good info for my pilgrimage to Pebble last year. I’ve eaten at PB several times when I went to confrerences in Monterey but the food was waaaay better after playing a round of golf there.

Awesome!! Next time give The Bench a try. Eat at the bar inside. Some of my favorites are the fire grilled Marg pizza, roasted beet salad, broccolini. You wont be disappointed....….

If you eat at The Bench you got to get a spot outside overlooking 18. Food is fantastic!

Yeah the outside option isn't working for the Bay Area right now :) Plus my buddy Bryan who works the bar will make sure the pours are well lets say "full"....man I love Pebble.

The next time I'm at Pebble I'll go to the bar at The Bench but when does your buddy work and who should I say recommended The Bench bar? Does your buddy take you out to play one of the Pebble courses since employees get to play for free and bring a guest

Wouldn't it be cheaper to eat at an off-campus restaurant?

Yes, it would be cheaper but it depends what you want to do. When guys want dining suggestions for the Monterey Peninsula I will give suggestions for good inexpensive, moderately priced and fine dining restaurants.

good inexpensive in that neck of the woods is all relative. I remember driving through some garlic farms on the way to MP from San Jose direction....they had garlic ice cream then....wonder if that's what they have in mind as inexpensive cuisine

You're right good and inexpensive is all relative, what's cheap for me might not be for someone else. For me inexpensive isn't any fast food restaurants like Burger King or Jack in the box although I like both of them.

I make my own Limoncello with Everclear 190 and I have a thread about it in the 19th Hole.

Motel 6 in Monterey was almost $200 a night when I was hotel shopping last year. We stayed at the PB Lodge but needed a room for one night before we checked in the resort. We chose to spend a little more as it just did seem right to pay that much for Motel 6.

So yes - it’s all relative.

Wow, that's crazy for a Motel 6, sometimes it depends on the time of year and if there's any big events going on in the area. Sometimes Quail Lodge is between $145 and $200 and it's a really nice place to stay. Other times it's in the $400 range. There's a Best Western Inn & Suites Pacific Grove close to Spanish Bay in a residential neighborhood that's okay. They were at one time Condos.
