With my experience selling, I normally can get 15-20% higher sales price than anywhere else (including the BST). Therefore, I am willing to suck it up and pay the fees to have more eyes looking at and bidding on my stuff.

Yup. Sell here and get ready to get lowballed. At least with ebay it's put up or shut up.

I use an eBay calculator so I can price accordingly and have an idea of my potential gain or loss.

I believe you're on to something! I may test your theory by listing a couple of Camerons that got nothing but crazy low offers (here on the BST).

Not taking up for eBay here, but, I’ve never understood the complaining about 10%. Most consignment businesses charge 20-30% plus your item is listed all over the US and other countries if you desire. For what you get 10% is a bargain. I know they can be buyer friendly but so can PayPal which is what is frequently used here.

At least with eBay you can charge for shipping to get a little bit back.

As a seller, I feel like buyers have wised up on this strategy as of late, taking the extra charge into account before making an offer or bidding. Maybe others have had better luck.

That’s probably true. I haven’t sold much there the last few years so I could well be a bit behind the times. I always tried to build a few dollars into the shipping.

I always try the BST first because of the fees, but lately I haven't had much success there. The item typically gets a whole bunch of views, but then only a few "offers" if you want to call them that. eBay has a huge audience and like others said - make up your mind what your lowest price is and then consider the fees when selling. I rarely have a no sale on eBay.

Hopefully you’re selling somewhere else. Don’t tell me you’ve slowed your ho’ing ways! Too many great offerings this year not to slore around.

I have slowed my ways. At least a little bit. I only bought two sets of irons, a couple driver heads, and a couple driver shafts last year. And I think I’ve actually kept most of it.

Problem is same whether it’s ebay or amazon. They are basically a monopoly w zero competition. Until such time, they will continue to gouge people.

companies like Amazon are willing to loose a ton of money in order to gain market share. It's almost impossible to compete at this point.

I believe the explanations on how these companies work tirelessly to satisfy the "customer" could explain why eBay is so buyer friendly. Who knows.

But yea I agree, we all will be at their mercy, whether it's pricing, policy changes, product changes, until someone figures out how to compete. It is what it is unless the laws change.

It's an absolute bargain. Sure, you feel the sting when you sell something nice for $300 and cough up $40 in ebay/PP fees, but how many of us have sold something for $10-$20 and whispered to ourselves "I can't believe someone wanted that." Then you're more than happy to pay the 10 percent.

And I also never offer free shipping, whereas on the BST and facebook groups there's the assumption that the seller pays. That really adds up over time. Plus if you pay for postage through eBay you'll save money.

If you're ever trying to find out how much you can expect to take home from an eBay listing, since there are eBay, shipping, and Paypal fees, use this link https://finalfeecalc.com/

My bigger concern with selling clubs on eBay is that no matter how many pictures, details in the description, and every bit of honesty you include in a listing, if the buyer is disappointed with the item or just changes their mind, you have essentially no chance of winning any dispute against them as a seller.

Unless you frequently sell on eBay you will be annoyed by the eBay fees. They offer discounts on listing and final value but you have to establish a store. Definitely not a place for flipping things unless you get the stuff for cheap to free. Then you probably don't worry much about the fees. Just take the 12% they charge you and tack on to your price. It's not rocket science. Stores do this when they lost their items.

The last part is the most true statement ever. I remember when eBay used to protect the seller but those days are but a distant memory almost to the point to where I’m not sure it ever existed. And it’s not like there was any other competition out there with eBay to where they were losing buyers by the droves to make them change their policy.

I prefer not to use ebay more so because of the end of month paypal hit--I wish they would hit my account as I collect the money. Here I get what I get. I have come to the realization that having something that I don't use sitting in my garage provides no value or benefit what so ever so anything I can get for it on BST is a plus.

I have a job. I don't try to make money on golf club transactions. Almost everything you buy depreciates in value. Kind of like gambling only spend what you can afford to lose.
