Talking Cult Clubs - What are your all time Favourites ???

The topic of cult clubs started a greater conversation about what are the best clubs of all time for YOU, including shaft. I know there is probably at least one club you either wish you still had for those fun casual rounds or you still bring out from time to time.

 

To get this party started, for me it would have to be my - 8.5 983E with a prolite Stiff along with Steelhead 3 fw woods 3&5 with M10 shafts.

 

When I was a kid I couldn't really afford to change much and I wasn't really close to many golf shops so I just stuck with what I had and they all worked really well.

I have a feeling this thread will be heavy on V Steels and Mizuno MPs.

 

TaylorMade Tour Preferred irons (2008) with TT Lite XL shafts for me. Nothing special about them other than they were my first set. The feeling of a flushed 3-iron was what kept me coming back for more.

Think the prime time was between 2002-2006 for the birth of a lot of these classics. I owned all of them multiple times over!

Not exactly sure what cult clubs are but in my area back in the day the Cleveland Launcher 460 sure was popular, seemed like all the cool kids had one. It was one of my all time favorite clubs, along with the matching 3 wood.

I have a cobra baffler 4 wood. Old school piece of rebar for a shaft and the prettiest persimmon. I still dust it off and take it to the range because it was the club for me when I was kid. I had it regripped last year. If I could actually make it work in the bag I would play it in a heartbeat.

I will have to say 975d Driver and mp 14's. Completely changed my game. I still look for drivers with that same style in head shape. Unfortunately my bag with that equipment was stolen from me. Still bummed about that one...

Clubs that are on par with today’s clubs and can be verified with a launch monitor.

The club that has transcended numerous iron sets, countless drivers, playing partners, even presidents, is my '19adams pro hybrid with red tour rogue shaft. Just bought a 16' i love er so much

Callaway Steelhead woods 3, 5 amd the best of all..........the 7 wood. There were shots that I played with that 7 wood that I could never repeat. That club could do anything from any lie.

The only older clubs that I use with any frequency are:

 

a) Titleist 983E driver - Use it a few times a year. Centre strikes with this club are as good as anything new (for my swing). However, the results are very bad if you miss at all (especially direction on toe strikes).

 

b) Various Ping Eye 2 SW / LW (+, XG/Gorge) - not sure these are any better than various wedge options out there today. However, if the grooves/face are still in good condition I think they are just as good.

 

c) Ping Zing 2 L/S wedge - had laying around and using as high bounce / wide sole lob wedge. Probably the least popular of my options.

If we are talking cult clubs then has to be Sonartec fairway woods and hybrids!
