Callaway Prototype irons are these tour issue or not .

    They are tour issued, but the grooves are not conforming to the groove rule change in 2010.

    Thanks a lot for your help. So they can’t be used in competitions then.

    Depends on the competition. The groove rule affects only pro and high level amateur tournaments so far. For regular comps you can use them till 2024.

    I have a set as well and when looking into that read that some sets were conforming and some weren't. Only way to know is send em to the USGA for testing.

    these are the new groove ones.. they are known as the "V" groove prototypes

    Not to hijack here, but is there a source for details on which heads were produced for tour only vs. a limited retail offering?



    I play a set of "..R.. V" irons, and recently picked up a well worn set of heavy heads marked ".R. H V" - I had never seen heavy heads with V grooves before picking these up, so my question to the experts is how rare are these?
