Dublin Hidden Gems

Alright so long story short, I will have one round in Dublin in June on a Wednesday afternoon. I will be playing The Island in the early morning and I'd like to play somewhere else in the afternoon. Portmarnock will be closed sadly in preparation for the Amateur. I'm looking to play somewhere pretty close to the city. Anyone have any good suggestions? K Club isn't out of the realm of possibility, neither is County Louth. Any good ideas will be appreciated! Thanks!

K club is fun to relive some of those Ryder Cup moments. I played there years ago so I can't comment on condition.

I'll be playing County Louth and Laytown&Bettystown first week of May so can offer some fresh reviews of those then.

Not sure if you have access to a car, european club is not too far of a drive down the coast. Druids Glen even closer. I've enjoyed both of those greatly

Thanks! I will likely be getting a ride from my dad (who's joining me at the Island but doesn't want to do 36) to wherever and Ubering back from there, that's why the closer the better. I would love to do the European Club but it would cost a lot to get back from there.

Theres a place called Stackstown just in the south of Dublin which was Padraig Harrington's club. Might be an option for you.

Royal Dublin is another although probably more expensive.

Carton House....2 outstanding courses. The O'Meara is a beautiful walk especially down by the water. The Monty is inland links that will challenge the best. Great value as well....much better value than the kClub and I was a member at both.

Stackstown would be a right PITA coming from The Island, as you basically have to go all the way around the city and there's nothing about it you wouldn't see in Virginia.

I liked The Island so much I would play 2 rounds there. Played Carton House Monty, fun parkland but not much to remember. Great place and hotel though!

If the Monty course was on the water as a true links, it would be one of the best courses around.
