Someone explain to me 'why' he decided to go Callaway. His bag last year produced an incredible summer starting in D.C. at TPC Avenel and then onto the Open. Why the need to sign a bag deal off-season? Can't be for the $$$?

In the Golf Digest interview about the switch, he mentions:

 

 

$ He picked up ball speed with new driver/ball combo, and the new ball has better greenside feel

$ Irons were an easy switch

$ Already had a Callaway wedge in the bag, just added a few more

$ Had been practicing for a while with the Toulon they sent him and liked it

It's a bit confusing to me as well. Maybe some guys just like the comfort of a full bag deal, but idk. Tough to justify switching equipment after a career year.

I am confused as to why he has switched out the putter, I thought Callaway let people chooses their own putter? I know Ping and now Taylormade make it a full bag deal but I always thought Callaway was more flexible

I think the putter was one of the first things he tried out while still a free agent and made the switch before even signing a deal. So why not get paid for all 14 clubs?
