I am all set, probably for couple years.

ProSoft Lime, 5 doz arrived yesterday, great cold weather ball. Looking forward to comparing with the Pro Lime, which I'll use once it warms up.

My usual/former ball was Chrome Soft for cold temps, and Chrome Soft X for summer.

The Vice balls were a pleasant surprise, pretty much equal (if not somewhat better) performance to other premium balls but at half the price.

We don't seem to get the big discounts in UK as you do in US. We can get Vice for £30/dozen (around $40), reducing to £22 for 5+ dozen.

Chromesoft £34, ProV1(x) are £41, so pretty much the same price in £ as you get in $.

Might give the Pro and Pro+ a go in the multi pack and compare to my usual Chromesoft. Even if it saves a few £ with equal performance then I'll be happy.

I just buy direct from Vice. The 5 dozen, they had a buy 5 get 6th free for couple weeks but that expired, was $130 to my door, still quite a value compared to other premium balls.

Hmmm, maybe only can use once then? I bought 6 for 5 Vice Pro Lime, then when I went to buy the Pro Soft Lime (to get 6 for 5) said the promotion had expired. I still bought the 5 doz Pro Softs.

Bonus dozen or not, still a great ball for the price....more money for cocktails during the round!

Hmm that deal now is really tempting. Can get 6 dozen Pro+ for $175 CAD or 4 dozen Snell MTB for the same price as comparison.

I don't need balls cause I have a ton but that price is just so damn good.

Vice is overpriced for what it is. They don't design golf balls, they re-brand others' designs, but they spent a ton on marketing so they are the current king of the rebranders. You can get the same balls at lower prices from the multitude of other direct-to-consumer rebranders.

May be true (I haven't looked for rebranded neon balls), but the OP asked if the balls were good, not colorful ;)

Well a simple answer is they are good. They are a good value if you purchase 5 dozen or more , otherwise not a huge savings over retail name brand your balls.

As far as rebranded goes - last years MTB-Red and the Cut Blue were identical. Different color layers but same exact dimple pattern , feel and spin.

I think you will find most balls non major OEM are made somewhere else and not in their own factories.

> As far as rebranded goes - last years MTB-Red and the Cut Blue were identical. Different color layers but same exact dimple pattern , feel and spin.

Not identical, not even similar as far as 4pc balls go. Snell designs their own ball, and does not sell for rebranding. Cut buys a rebranded design.

The MTB Red and Cut Blue have very different dimple count and pattern. This is something you can look up very easily. Different urethane covers. Cut Blue is so low launching and high spin that it was an outlier on the Golf Digest spin charts. Feel is subjective, but Blue is 90 compression and Red is 75-80, many of us can definitely feel a difference between the two. Two very different balls that feel and perform very differently for a low handicapper. A high handicapper won't generally be able to tell the difference between these two.

They do not have different dimple patterns. I posted pics of the side by side as well as cut open side by side in the thread “I cut them open so you don’t have too” . Same number of simple , same compression , only thing different was the logo and the color of layers (thickness of layers was 100 percent equal)

Maybe Cut stole Snells design but they look , feel and play the same .. period

Funny after posting those pics that thread was no longer accepting photos after that point. Make of that what you will. Also is it not surprising the MTB-Red was so short lived ?

The dimple count is different per their own websites and per the USGA Conforming List. They cannot submit inaccurate data to the USGA.

The compression is different (75-80 v 90, well documented).

Both spin and launch angle are different per the Golf Digest spin chart.

Just because they look, play. and feel similar to a double digit index who may not be able to distinguish subtleties in 4 piece performance, does not make the same (not meant to be harsh, but that is a reality). I can unequivocally tell a difference between the two, in iron/wedge launch angle, apex and spin, sound, and feel. So can the USGA and Golf Digest.

Where are you getting the info ? The ball conforming list had them as same number of dimples when I posted this pics in the other thread. Maybe the 2019 Blue now has a different dimple pattern but the 2017 was absolutely the same pattern and same number of dimples. Check my photos in the other thread and see for yourself.

Compression ratings are not universally just as one shafts stiff flex is another’s regular. They are not independently rated so IMO they are the same , you may say one is 80 and one is 90 but that not coming from one source measuring both balls .

Again you may feel a difference and you must have better hands than I , but I tell you that you are completely in error saying they had a different number of dimples so everything else you claim must also be taken with a grain of salt.

Again read the other thread I mentioned

On the current list look at the Cut ball that has cutgolf4u.com as the side stamp , that is the 2017 Blue and has 360 dimples (same as MTB-Red) and was the L-H and also was 4pc-1C .

Same ball different stamp

If you are being purposefully difficult, you are doing so masterfully, I must admit.

You have now read the USGA list wrong.

2019 Cut Blue: 4P-1c L-H 314 Blue in white in black line

2017 Cut Blue: 4P-3c M-M 338 Cutgolfco.4U in white in black line

Snell 4P-1c L-H 360 MTB Red

All three are different balls with different dimple count, and the 2017 Blue is even different construction.

I read your thread, where even others said the balls behaved differently. It's really not that hard to discern for a low capper.

And please ask yourself, if you know anything about Dean Snell: do you really think he would allow Cut to sell his ball at a price lower than him?! Please apply some common sense to think through that. He owns the design, not the manufacturer. You are just so wrong here. Different balls, different numbers, different performance.

Would your like me to send you a 2017 Cut Blue and a 2018 MTB Red that I have brand new in my garage ? I would love to send that to you with a side of crow.

Also more info on the MTB-Red . Snell wanted to come out with a yellow tour ball and that ball was not made with the same process as the Black or by the same plant for that matter. The patents mean little in parts of Asia so even if Dean designed the ball , its plausible someone else had their ball made at the same plant with the same specs.

Also why did Dean let retailed like Big5 sell the MTB-Red in White in store and not the Yellow or MTB-Black ? My guess was it was a cheap ball to produce anyway so he could still make a good margin while letting someone else get their cut. I got mine with a $10 in-store couple for $20 (same price and the cut blue)

PM me your address and I will send you 1 previous version of the cut blue and 1 MTB Red and when you count both to have 360 dimples your can come back here and publicly announce your findings.

Also not that it matter but I work in a non golf industry , but the practice of private labeling and claiming some ownership of design if very common. All it takes is changing something as simple as color or small change in ingredient as the smallest level that you would never notice to claim it as your own design.

Not saying this is what Dean did with the MTB-Red but legally he could have done so and claimed he designed the ball. When you don’t own the process start to finish, its almost expected that your cutting corners on R&D

I am not sure what the issue is but the Snell Red and Cut Blue are not identical but similar as are many golf balls out there. Layers are similar and there are designs out there used and tweaked for multiple balls. Not sure what the hang up is and what you are trying to prove. They are not identical. Having played both extensively the feel is different and I see some performance differences. Nobody knows who designed what or who took a design for their own or modified but the balls are clearly not the same per the USGA list and player feedback.

BTW this is a VICE thread. I like their balls but choose others because of the cost. I like to rotate balls somewhat so I am not buying 5 dozen of any ball at a time so FOR ME they are not the value that the Cut and Snell balls are. I usually play those or other lay ywar models that typically sell in the mid $30 range.

All good - this discussion got offline as you said Vice only rebadges other balls . My point of contention is Snell is possibly doing the same on the Red.

Anyone who wants to put up a SnellMTB-Red and Cut Blue 2017 on a LM with wedge / 7 and Driver , PM me and as soon as I unpack my garage I will send you 1 of each . You must post a new thread with data however.

If you're so sure about this, start a thread and see how that goes. Guess you were looking for a post to bring up your conspiracy theory, and you chose my on-topic post for your off-topic rant. Go ahead, count and cut to your heart's content, the rest of us will use USGA data, Golf Digest testing, the balls' own websites, opinions of golfers who can tell the difference, and common sense.
