Look, all I'm saying is the last time Tiger won the Masters was when the Players was in March

? Phil won the '06 Masters - or is that the joke?

What does Phil have to do with this? Last time Tiger won the Masters was in 2005. Players was played last weekend in March in 2005. I think your reading comprehension is the joke :)

Nope, Players was last played in March in 2006.

You are proving my point! Nobody is arguing the last Players in March was/was not in 2006. He/she said the LAST TIME TIGER WON THE MASTERS the Players was played in March. He/she did not say the last time Tiger won the Masters WAS THE LAST TIME THE PLAYERS WAS IN MARCH. Two different claims. Again reading comprehension.

EDIT: It is okay though, nothing worth arguing over. Just was trying to be nice and correct you.

Thanks buddy, OH!

I am mistaken. Forgive me, but it came across quite agressive.

IMO this is how the worlds various tournaments seem/should be ranked:

Majors

WGC

High tier PGA Tour Events (The Players, API, Torrey ect)

High Tier Euro Tour Events (Ireland, Scotland, British Masters, France ect)

"Lower" PGA Tour events (e.g. Autumn Events + others)

"Lower" Euro Tour Events (Oman, Switzerland ect)

Web.com/Euro Challenge Tour

Mini Tours

My main point being that the Players has a long (hopefully impossible) journey to being a major despite the way its being pushed

The Players ranks behind the WGCs because:

1. It has a stronger field

2. It has a full field

3. It has a longer tradition

4. It is played on a better course

5. The winner gets more exemptions

6. It has a bigger purse

7. It counts for more in WGHoF qualification criteria

Check all that apply.

Haha! Like any pro sets a goal if making the world golf hall of fame. Besides, it's just an American golf hall if fame. Bit like the world series in baseball I guess.

The ignorance is astounding.

No, it's the World Golf Hall of Fame.

PGA Tour events are counted equally to the European Tour, Austral-Asian Tour, Asian Tour, Sunshine Tour and Japanese Tour to try to meet the requirements of 15 wins to merit consideration. That's why David Graham with his two majors, but only eight PGA Tour wins got in, he also won 9 times in Australia.

The system is actually biased against Americans that don't play overseas.

I was being derisive, but I guess you missed that.

Exactly how is it biased against Americans that don't play overseas?

David Graham got in? Lol! World golf hall of everyone playing long enough sounds about right. Haha!

I get the adoration for Tiger, but I still can’t fathom betting on him to win.

The course sets up well for him because he won't need to hit many drivers at Sawgrass. But no, I wouldn't putt any money down at Tiger. Putter is too cold.

Serious question. Do you gamble?

Big cat @+2200 is insanity on any track.

I don’t. But I understand the long odds he is getting, I guess I could see a small amount, just in case. But there’s a reason he’s @+2200.

One of my least favorite tournaments of the year. An uninspired, fake, manufactured golf course, a network bloviating over how it really should be considered a major, ball in the water count on 17 (with comparisons to all prior years), obligatory shots of alligators in the ponds. and endless "better than most" replays. Thank goodness college bball tourneys are in full swing....

I couldn't have put it better.

It's scaled new heights this year with the new "theme tune" which will be rammed down everyone's throats ad nauseam.

Everything they do has a faint air of desperation - always trying to be the Masters and always falling well, well short.

That's pretty much exactly what The Masters has been doing for decades, theme song and all!!!

who the hell is Matt Killen

Younger guy from Kentucky got his start working with Kenny Perry (he was under 25 if I remember correctly which was kind of weird) helped get him into Valhalla for the Ryder Cup. Also worked with Chad Campbell (both perry and Campbell were runners up to Angel Cabrera at The Masters). Total golf nerd now he’s catapulted to Justin Thomas and J.B. Holmes (both Kentuckians). Good guy as well.
