I get the adoration for Tiger, but I still can’t fathom betting on him to win.

So after watching the Big Cat's interview.. I doubled down! $200 @ + 2200 for the Big Cat to take this 3rd Players Championship!!!!!

 

 

Shoul've placed multiple bets on a made cut and a top 5 or top 10 finish. Not as crazy odds but definitely more realistic.

I'm a little surprised at the negative comments about the Sawgrass course or the Players tournament in general. I look forward to the Players every year. As for the 17th being tricky or gimmicky, I don't see it that way. I find it exciting. I'm on the edge of my seat when my guy is in contention and tees it up on that hole. Much like the 12th at the Masters. Speaking of which, if you're tired of the 5th major spiel, then you've really got to be tired of the 'tradition like no other' we get ad nauseum every year for the Masters. That tournament sells itself.

 

Course is tricked up from one end to the other.

 

And the 5th major crap has nothing to do with repetition. And everything to do with hating to see them try to go the lpga route and make every other tournament a “ major “.

Why does everyone get so upset about the fifth major stuff? The “Fifth Beatle” wasn’t an actual Beatle; just the closest thing to one.

Well here I am. I guess it's time to follow golf again. And why not, Spring Break, it's raining again, it's the Not 5th Major, and the course is the champion in all of fakery golf has to offer. And that is saying a lot considering what golf courses do to destroy natural beauty.

 

That aside I have just one gripe. Shorts? I know, it's just practce. "I mean practice, we talkin bout practice, how silly is that?" I just think if the policy is long pants for the tournament, it needs to be the same the whole week. Now we know what will happen next.

I'm actually a grits kind of guy. On the shorts, this is one of those times the stuffly ole men are correct imo. Shorts just look tacky.

Bud, I've got 5 ft mounds of frozen ice/snow on either side of my driveway. It was -9*C this morning when I left for the office.... I can't even look at my clubs out of fear they may shatter due to temps... I'm counting down the weeks until I can get out for some wet weather play.. and I am totally not as sour as you are.. Your location says Texas!!!! WTFH, dude.. get out and play!

If he’s like me he’s had sooo much rain you can’t. That’s worse than ice. At least In ice you resolve your mind to not think about being able to play that day. In this slop you see sunshine and immediately start to devise a plan to get to the course. Only to arrive 38 minutes later to more rain. Or worse. Get 5 holes in and more rain. Wettest winter in the south i ever recall.

Well there are some things I do like about the Players

 

- lots of room for big swings from 11 to 18

- same course every year

 

The tour has always made sure it has the largest purse and strongest field to give it some "major" standing. I recall how much the players hated the course before the year Greg Norman took it apart, the ball started going far enough that the players could score with shorter irons in their hands

It is inarguably closer than any other tournament in golf. Obviously better field than the Masters, and about the same as the three full field majors.

Field has nothing to do with it. Plenty of events have good fields.

 

It’s the history. The players doesn’t have it.

 

The best the players has is a Saturday afternoon putt by tiger that he himself says was a lag that fell in. And Hal Sutton’s “ be the right club today quote “. That’s a looong way away from a course built by the games greatest amateur champ ( it carries with it all of Jones’ history ) the original open championship, and the us open ... even less than the pga which used to be a split field with some guys playing the open instead.

I don't agree with the reason provided above but from a bookmakers point of view these odds are totally understandable. For starters Rory's 2019 form is very good despite a lot negativity because of the lack of a W.
