on a newport 2, there is some kind of tape, or what they call "vibratiom damening material" between the insert and the putter body. Does anyone know what it actually is? looks like a piece of 2 sided tape.

What makes it super special is the sticky stuff is on BOTH sides. The special equipment required to achieve that alone really drives up the tooling costs.

Sounds like you have a fake Scotty. Only the Chinese fakes have double sided tape.
