Can Someone Help Fix This Mess.....

So here is a face on with my 9 iron. I feel liked I am releasing early with a flip at or right after impact. Could this be due to a weak grip and me trying to subconsciously trying to keep from going way right?

 

Also, lower body seems to be sliding instead of rotating.

 

Any advice how to get either of these problems straightened out?

Yea what it looks like is that your getting stuck into your left hip and then trying to save it by flipping. What you really want to work on is getting your hips cleared.

 

One thing you can try is feeling like at the start of the downswing, you are pressing into your left heel. This can help you gain a little power by using the ground more, and can also keep you from sliding into that left side.

 

The feeling you want to go for is almost like you are pulling your left hip backwards while you are rotating. Right now you don't have any room for you arms to swing through impact.

Yes, what you are saying makes total sense. I feel like I am stuck and have to really catch up with my hands to keep from hitting it way right. I will try what you said about my left hip, I feel like if I could get it cleared I would have more room for a swing moving toward my target instead of swinging out toward right field.

Stuck is part of the problem but I would take the club more to the outside on the takeaway and try to get the hands into a higher position at the top but that requires some work and is gonna feel insanely strange.

A lot of times I find myself working too much from the inside. End up hitting big blocks or hooks. I have to make a conscious effort to get more on plane which is usually a weird feeling compared to what comes naturally.

That's typically better player stuck.... if you take it more outside v. inside it should help remedy that.

I tried hitting some in my garage yesterday taking it to the outside and then almost doing what feels like an over the top type move to start the downswing. Ball striking was more consistent but still a long way to go. And I think my wrists are still flipping because a lot of them were going left. I didn't take a video but I'll try to get one this weekend and see if it looks any better.

Hit some balls on the simulator tonight. Tried making more of an effort to get my club on plane and less flat and inside. Also worked on getting more lower body rotation through the ball. Felt like I struck the ball better and swing was more free. Average driver ss increased by 6mph on average which makes me think my sequencing was more in line with what I'm looking for. My miss was still a wicked hook but had more high draws and fewer rope hooks than last time. Work in progress but at least I felt like I made some progress tonight.
