M4 vs M6. Much difference?

M4 is going to be cheaper. But performance wise is there much difference?

 

Like the matte crown on the m6.

 

Thinking of going to one of these in lieu of my g400lst

Being realistic - no. It's not a big difference. Realistically you can fit a number of heads and shaft combos to get the best distance out of a driver. If money doesn't play a factor just play what suits your eye the best once fit. If money is involved in your decision, then i think it's a no brainer on which one to go for. Driver heads are limited by COR, they're not getting faster - some more forgiving, but not faster - and not year over year like they're claiming.

Yeah not much between them, if the biggest decider is "value for money" M4 takes it this whole year.

It's different. There is no such thing in golf as objectively "better" or "worse", and there is no such thing as being "limited by COR" assuming you're not iron byron. COR can only be max'd in the dead center, and even Hogan only hit "2 or 3" there in any given round.

 

"Hey, which is higher performance out of the box, the Mustang or the Accord?"

"Well, they both have an absolute top speed of 120 if they're certified for road use in the United States, so they're exactly the same."

 

That's not how drivers work either. Its about how it interacts with you and if the look at address gives you confidence. Do you like the sound? Does the head make you want to release or flip? Is the head-weight correct for the shaft you like at the length you like? Does twist-face 1 or 2 actually fix your miss? These are the questions that will make one better than the other or make them the same.

I just went through a fitting. I gamed the M4 all last year and was curious about the new drivers. I did not notice a whole lot of difference in the numbers between the M4/6. However, the sound, feeling and looks are much different between the two. My BEST strike with the M6 was better than my best with the M4, but in terms of accuracy and consistency they were pretty close and not enough to warrant a switch in driver heads (shaft, yes) for me.

Getting a 9.5 m4 head to try out. Lower it down to 7.5 and use my pro orange shaft. Think it should be good

I had a chance to play the M6 head for 18 holes using my current shaft. The M6 head creates more spin for me. I’m sticking with the M4 head.

I don't have the data to back it up for the M6, but the M4 is a high MOI / high CG design and the head design of the M6 suggests that it is likely high MOI / lower/low CG. In terms of practical applications, this means that all things being equal, the M6 will be lower spin and low strikes won't be as punishing. I'll be curious to see the MGS data on this one later this year.

M6 is definetly lower spin then last years m4. Id even venture to say lower then the m3 depending on weight positions.

 

I found the m6 to be much better for ballspeed retention and consistency across the face compared to the m3. Slightly better then m4. Does it warrant an upgrade if u have an m4....no

 

If you have neither and price isnt an issue id get an m6.

Completely happy with my 9.5 m4 head I got. Paired with the pro orange 70tx shaft it is a very consistent set up for me!
