new st190 driver review

Man the ST190 is low spin I used reg flex and cranked up to 10.5 degrees snd couldnt get spin snd launch up

I saw the same, I was hitting the CK Orange 50 in stiff vs my Ping G LS with an AD DJ 6x and I couldn't get within 2 degrees of the Ping even with the 10.5 head cranked up. Low spin for sure though, almost 400rpm less than the Ping but the carry suffered because of the low launch. Here in the Northeast low launch bullets aren't terribly effective when you get 5 yards of roll on a wet fairway.

I don't think it looks open but I was seeing somewhat of a fade ball flight yesterday on the range. I played with the weights, the loft... still, was a little fade. Mis hits were pretty punishing, not so much distance wise, but definitely dispersion suffered. Was probably mostly me though. I will get it on the course this week and see how it does.

I saw the head and I'm not sure I can get over it sitting open so much.

You thought that it looked open? I have grown to absolutely hate that the ST180 looks closed no matter what I do. For that reason alone, I would upgrade to the ST190.

I’ve never see the ST180 so I can’t compare to you. Yeah I’m one of those players that needs to have it sit flush and most people when they grab my M3 tour think it looks closed.

I hit the ST190 today at Golf Galaxy and was extremely excited to see 1950-2100 spin! They had a pretty lame selection of shafts to try from and the only X was Fuji Atmos White which felt pretty decent but the apex height was much too high. I can't wait to hit this driver head with different shaft choices.

Is it just me or are the shaft offerings for this driver kinda lame?

All the shafts are real deal shafts and not made-for like Taylormade. I just got fitted for the KURO KAGE Silver Dual-Core TiNi 70x. That is a $200.00+ shaft.

That’s great that you found a shaft to fit your swing. What I have an issue with is many of the shaft offerings exclude specific weights and flexes within some of the shaft models. Example Tensei Orange only in 50 grams, reg and s. Tensei White 76 gram stiff, 80 gram x. No 60 gram range. No hzrdus.... Not really a big deal as I’ll buy aftermarket if needed. But you can’t even buy anything else from mizuno according to the email I received from them.

Other than the KK line and the Tensei CK Blue line, it’s really a fragmented selection for the offerings. I was not impressed with these from Mizuno with such a focus on showing how serious they are about the “woods” game and with what they did with the JPX900 woods all getting the full line of the Speeder Evo II line.

The heads are so good, I did not hesitate with going custom through my custom fitter and club builder and happy I was able to test out all of the new 2019 and some of the late 2018 shafts in the ST190 and ST190 TS 3metal.

Tee it up high and hit up on it . This head likes high toebiased center strikes from my fitting. The lower strokes on the face the lower the launch but spin stayed pretty true.

I have about 5 rounds in now with my ST190 and I’m loving this driver.

The looks to me are near perfection, it sounds amazing and what really sold me (other than how much it lowered my spin) was the feel.

Today I hit some huge drives for me and my few misses were just off the fairway. On a couple that I didn’t think were hit well, I was shocked at how straight they stayed and how little distance I lost.

This thing is legit!

Wow..now that’s pretty funny.

That’s what having a new born at home will do to you.

I obviously meant spin ;)

Great stick

2nd round today with my 190G... this driver is surprisingly long. I wouldn't say it is SUPER forgiving but the forgiveness is there... You can get punished by missing the center but when hit well, I don't think I have found a driver that is longer. For me, it's what I would have expected out of the '16 M2 that I didn't get... Love it so far.

Finally got my ST190 w/ Atmos TS Black 60X yesterday, had a chance to get some numbers with it last night.  This is the first driver Ive come across that can control spin for me and its SUPER consistent no matter were I hit it on the face.  Spin was 1850-2200, launch was 13-16, ballspeed was in the 175-180mph range with a swingspeed of 118-122.  I am very pleased so far.  Sound/Feel is great, and probably one of the best looking drivers out right now.   F9 is getting all the attention, but this one is the sleeper of the year for sure.

Just got my ST190G and paired it up with a Tensei PRO White 70S. Quite possibly the sexiest looking driver I've ever seen.

I get fit for both of mine Saturday @ GolfHQ :)

the real question is whether or not I hold off on irons to see what the new MP line looks like.

So good brotha! On the irons that would all come down to how well you hit the current JPX and MP offerings. Might get a deal as well and pin-ultimate numbers with these current offerings???  Test and see.

I'm looking at reshafting my ST190 to a Atmos Tour Spec Blue 6S.    I've tried making the TS Black work, but I'm just not getting the height I need.  I'm also hitting it on the heel side of the face a lot.  I'm thinking about tipping it 1/2" and playing it at 44.5".  What would that do to the swing weight?  Will it be considerable that I will need to make it up with lead tap or hot melt?
