No Players Pics?

Been opening this section since Monday drooling for Tournament pics lol.

Definitely sucks. I remember on Gear Dive Chris Voshall said they normally do iron testing at the players so we might have seen a spy pic of the MP 20

Beginning last year the PGA Tour changed their access policy and I no longer had access to the range or putting green. Last year I covered the Web tournament in Knoxville but there is no Web event running concurrently this year.

 

So no photos.

 

Maybe bvMagic will be up there on Wednesday and get some photos from outside the ropes. Next week back at it at Valspar.

If I remember correctly there were none last year as well. PGA Tour does not issue any inside the ropes press credentials. Would have been shooting from long distance. Waste of his time. Don't blame him.

Another effort by the Tour to make The Players look like a major.

 

Genuinely wish that they would realise that by now, we all get it. The more stupid stuff that they do to try and make it seem like a major, the less it seems to be. Stopping credentials, stupid theme music, using all capitals to make it seem important. In fact from now, I am going to simply refer to it as the players with no capitals.

I was told that the players voted on this yet I've talked to players and haven't spoken to one who voted for it.

 

There's not suppose to be any media on the range unless a player invites them in with them, then they are "suppose" to leave the range and stay outside the fence. I'm sure I could have wiggled my way in with players but that would only have upset the Tour and put our access at risk for the rest of the tournaments. Better to just accept these new rules and move on to the other tournaments.

Kinda the same thing as Memorial not wanting equipment trucks on site? Am I remembering that correctly? I guess just a way to "elevate" the staus of an already elite tournament. I get it, definitely sucks for us but thanks Greg for bringing the good week after week!

I don't see how the Tour could think banning Greg and other photographers from the range and putting green is good for the Players and the PGA Tour. Greg, can you not photograph the US Open and the PGA Championship either?
