2019 Callaway Apex & Apex Pro Iron Pics

Anyone have some pictures of the smokes after 4-5 rounds? With all the talk of poor finish I am worried but I am also not a huge fan of shiny chrome. I would love a raw set.

Black metal will always wear. It doesn't matter what the marketing lingo is used to promote their particular type of finish. If you are worried about the finish go with the chrome. If you hate chrome get a different set of irons such as the Wilson V6 Raw.

I get they will wear. But marks from bending to adjust lie angles at the factory and face impact marks after 1-2 balls seems excessive and that is what some are claiming. I have the black PM grind wedge and have no concerns how it looks after 2 years.

I had multiple of my irons bent and no marks to be seen.

ย

Iโ€™ve also hit them a fair amount on my home sim and definitely no wear after a ball or 2, actually none thus far at all. Now I realize that isnโ€™t outside, but I think the claims of excessive wear have been a little overstated.

I've had my Combos set (5-A, Recoil Smacwrap) for about a month now and I'm very happy with them, though I wish I'd gone with a straight Apex Pro set. I don't think that the CF19 is easier to hit than the Pro, in fact it may be harder to hit. For anyone under a 10hcp who hits their irons well, I'd recommend going straight Pro. The Pro looks so good behind the ball that that alone makes the case but the feel should definitely close the deal. I tried to change my order the day after I submitted it but it was too late. That's how quickly they're getting these done these days in the Mexican factory. In any event, they're all great clubs....I'm sold, and these will be in the bag for some time, maybe the duration.

I agree 100% - I did 4 and 5 in the Apex and do not like them at all. Should have went all Pro's. Will call callaway and see if there is anything I can do to swap them out.

ย

Really Really Really like the Apex Pro - coming from the P790s I feel much much more in control and my scores have been showing it so far.

> Not sure if right thread but TXG just did their Apex Pro review. I still love these but the really high speed guys may want to be aware that Matt was getting a couple "fliers" off the deck. His front to back dispersion was about 13 yards with a 6i which obviously is a little bit about strike... but he's around a 2-3 HC and his strikes weren't too bad.

> I don't have all his speed but I tend to carry the 6i around 185 -190 when I'm feeling good. I am now a little concerned about this... This is the #1 reason why I ditched my 790's.

ย

I switched from P790s to pro's and have not had any of the fliers after 3-4 rounds. Feel very in control. I'm also a 185-190 carry 6i guy. I think you will be pleased.

Hi guys long time viewer of the forum for some years and love the info I've gained from the Chat and debates on here. never posted but now have a question that some of the experts might have some insight too. Been playing for a few years Always had a good strike and distance but was a high/mid handicap because of short game shortcomings. Got hooked wrx style had lessons got a set of ping g30 clubs, then upgraded to ping g, then 2 sets of p790s guess it's a bug. In the p790s had dg 105s which I hated the feel and response to far to light made the heads feel like lead so got another set with my normal kbs tour 120 s which I liked alot more but still wasnt convinced. Ball flight too low far too much roll out etc. So my new fitting put me into callaway apex cf19 with either kbs tour s 120 or c taper light stiff both giving me better spin and higher apex just 100 times better strike and feel to the p790s. However the wrxer in me sent me packing to try out the apex and apex pro with the stock elevate shaft as I hadn't tried it in the fitting for some reason. Game changer. They only had the 95g lighter elevate in stiff on the apex which was better then the p790s by a mile for feel and response and maybe felt better then the c taper light I tried? However hit the first shot with the pro and a tour elevate stiff and just shouted yes at the top of my voice on an empty driving range. Felt awesome like unreal. But my question is would the pros be too much for me as a midhandicaper although I strike the ball as well as any single digit player just don't have the scoring to back it. I'm also thinking the shaft works as I'm coming from kbs tour 120s to a tour elevate 120 Stiff. All the best from the uk

Iโ€™m loving the performance and feel of the CF19 Apex Pro, would prefer in brushed satin finish rather than chrome.

I was hitting them with practice (read **** soft) balls in the hitting bay, but was getting 5 mph more than my AP2. Now, my AP2 currently are a 1/4 in short, but I was having better launch and spin numbers, equal/better land angle, and about 12 yards more carry.

I originally had a '19 Combo set that I unsuccessfully tried to change at the last minute to a full set of the Apex Pros. Then the Pro irons in the set had an issue with the appliquรฉs in the cavities where it appeared that there was rust behind the badges. Callaway immediately chose to replace them and later even honored my request for a full set of Apex Pros instead of what I had. So, I've now got a full set of Apex Pro irons on their way and, when they arrive, I'll be sending back the original Combo set. I like everything about the Pro irons better when compared to the Apex; offset, top line, sound, and feel are all markedly better with the Pro and the Apex's distance advantage is minimal. Hats off to Callaway for fixing an issue immediately without any drama as well as throwing in a bonus for my trouble.

Is the crack actually in the base forging, or is it instead in the surface plating?

Took the Apex out for a spin for the first time since being delivered yesterday and wow. Super forgiving it felt like no matter where it hit the ball on the clubface the ball wanted to go straight. Much much more forgiving than the PING i210's I had before
