Should I Be Embarrassed?

So I was fitted to a Callaway Rogue Draw driver recently. Really it was the choice of the F9 and the Rogue Draw. I ultimately went with Rogue because it gave me slightly better numbers and its cheaper.

My question is should it be embarrassing to admit that I need a draw driver? I have never had one and honestly I have always had the bias that if you get a Draw biased driver you are just hiding faults in your swing. And additionally if I were to correct those faults have I now made a bad purchase because I no longer produce the sidespin in my impact and now I'm hitting hooks?

Is that how most people feel? Am I just overthinking things? Do I really have to worry about hooks if my swing all of sudden works itself out over the course of the season?

Why care what anyone else thinks? Players should be judged by their scorecard, not their clubs. I play offset or draw biased drivers and game improvement or super game improvement irons. They help me play my best. Our club champion for about 6 years running was a low single digit handicapper with Callaway Big Bertha irons.

I don’t think his fundamental question - whether the club will eventually overcorrect things - is of no merit.

However, the answer is absolutely it won’t make a damn difference after you fixed your fundamental flaw(s) leading to fade/slices (if there was any).

This almost always hold true...the more sound the swing, the more you are able to handle anything (any flex, weight, color, price range, etc, etc) as long as specs are close to standard.

Soooo what you’re all saying is I might as well put the senior shaft in now and buy myself a Niblick while I’m at it. I get it, im being insecure for no reason. I’m just going to play what works for me.

*Apologies if I offended any senior flex using, Niblick playing golfers. No offense was meant!

Oh, hell no. I'm a low-single-digit cap, and I play a Ping G400 SFT, with a couple pieces of lead tape on the heal. I'm only 5'6", it's tough for me to turn over these modern big drivers.

D - Ping G430 LST 9-degree, Kai'li 60S
3W - Ping G400 Stretch 13-degree, Alta 65S

Think of it this way. A lot of players set their clubs up to avoid the hook .. or "the lefts" so to speak.

Toe weight, flat lies, lead tape (a gift from the heavens fwiw) etc etc

It's no different that some pre-set for not going right

If you see me at the course please just keep walking by

And don't touch my blades or give me advice when you walk the line at the range

Hey just noticed as well, the hosel is set to Draw as well, so that makes me feel a little better as if I’m missing I start going too far right I can dial it back to the neutral setting.

I don’t really care,I think I’m just letting my mind wander since I’m waiting for this club to come in.

I just think it’s funny, that before the fitting I was telling myself what I imagined I’d be fitted too and Callaway draw biased driver was not one of them.

But you are all correct, I wouldn’t be thinking this at all if the club had a movable weight and the fitter moved the weight to the heel. This is no different and in fact I asked the fitter that would I see a difference between Rogue Draw and the new Flash. The fitter told me he wouldn’t have fitted me for a Flash because the draw bias on the flash is not as significant as the Rogue Draw.

We had one guy in our group get fit into SR shafts and tried to convince us it stood for stiff-regular. He might be right, but we still razz him for it every time lol

one of the "secrets" of golf is to only miss in one direction. Gospel Jack 72:1986

If you can always aim down right rough line and never ever push it right (your miss is always left rough) then you are golden my friend

What? You said it is embarrassing having a “draw driver”

What I am saying is how would anyone know you had one unless you told them? 99% of golfers would not know a “draw” driver from any other driver.. who cares
