Anyone have an Induction Range?

We currently have a smooth top electric range and my wife has found two possible replacements at JC Penny's as they shut down their appliance department. One is a Samsung Induction unit and the other is a nice GE Profile gas.She doesn't care which one. We have the wiring for the induction but would need to extend our gas piping somewhat and add a 120v outlet if we went the gas route. I can do both the electrical and gas line work so this ancillary stuff does not play into the decision much. We have the necessary pots and pans. My question actually is "does anyone regret having an induction range".

We have one by Miele and it is terrific and extremely fast. No regrets at all. As you noted, just have to use the right cookware.

We have an LG electric with induction oven. It bakes in less time, but what I like most is it eliminates hot spots (uniform heating).

My only disappointment is that I’m an old f@rt that likes dials instead of modern touch screens.

Induction is really nice. Read the manual though to see pot sizes for burners. They have a bunch of safety mechanisms in induction ranges so the bottom of each pan needs to be in a certain range on each burner. I went with gas as to not have that. When the induction tech that senses the pan size and shape and only heats that gets into cheaper models I will switch

We are doing personal research into an induction stove when our Samsung dies.   We'll never own another Samsung kitchen appliance.   We've replaced the ice maker 3 times and decided it was time for a new refrigerator.   The Samsung stove works well but the oven will take almost 30 minutes to get to the desired heat even though it shows it's reached temperature very quickly.   We leave an oven thermometer to wait until the desired heat.   

 

My wife really doesn't want gas even though post people that use gas love it.    We already have induction pots and pans.

 

Are Jen-Air and Miele the top brands?

Sorry, I don't have an induction range, but we have had other Samsung kitchen appliances and regret purchasing them.  Despite the high reviews I found before purchasing, simply stated, they are junk.  I may not even wait until the dishwasher dies to replace it.  We have a Jen-Air gas range/electric convection oven - it's been rock solid for 17 years.

I know nothing of induction ranges. That said, when the time comes for us to move from our current house, one deal breaker for both of us is lack of a gas range. I have had electric in the past, and will never again if I can help it. Living on the coast, we deal with hurricanes/tropical storms that can leave us without power for weeks at a time. Having a gas range is a necessity in order to be able to cook.
