Pingman grips and weight

Hopefully you putter heads out here can help me out. Ive started a small collection of older ping putters and have run into an issue. I like the feel of the Midsize cord grip in my hands however when installed the putter head feels so light I cant control it. I installed a regular pingman on another putter but am not thrilled with the size.

 

How many wraps does it take to get a pingman standard to be closer to midsize?

I have already loaded the putter sole with lead tape and it still is not feeling right like the anser with standard size pingman.

I wrap standard size iron grips with 2 extra wraps to get it close to midsize. I think that will get you close.

I really like Ping's pp58 midsize grip but don't know the weight.

The midsize is around 80 grams, the regular pp58 is 58-60 grams.

I go with the pp58 and add three wraps. Have for so long I don't really know how it compares to a true midsize, but its perfect and feels full in my chunky hands.

I'm having a similar issue....   finding a sub-60 gram grip that I like is tough!!  SC pistolinis are pretty good

I weighed my copper Anser 2 35 inch with standard Pingman grip and it was D2.  Did the same with my Scotty Newport 35 inch with standard grip (very similar to Pingman) and it was D3. Did the same with a Ping Scottsdale Anser nickel 35 inch putter I recently got. It had the original Ping spiral wrap grip which was slightly longer than the standard Pingman.  Since it was years old I replaced it with the lighter standard Pingman and it came out to D5. So I guess Ping sets up their putters for around D2.  It puts great at D5.  I have another Scotty Newport model that also weighs D5 but doesn't feel as good as the nickel Ping. 

 

Couldn't find any info online about the spiral wrap grip (think that's the name) since its been discontinued for at least 10 years.

I just ripped the PP58 Midsize off my Ping (2021) Anser 4 (was replacing with SS GT Tour) and it weighed 88g (stock swing weight with PP58 Midsize was D2). I was shocked and very pleased as the 20g difference in weight enabled me to raise the swing weight to the desired levels (without paying a builder to do the work).
