New Wishon driver?

I've always loved reading Tom's thoughts on golf clubs, but have never had any experience with the ones he's made over the years. What is the typical pricing like on a Wishon driver? Can you order a head only, or does it have to be the entire club?

Typical procedure is to find a clubfitter near you. They'll conduct a fitting and then build your club for you.

The Wishon stuff is sold to the fitters as components, so you can put the driver head on whichever shaft you need. They'll select heads and bend lofts, lies, and face angles for cheap.

Pricing depends on the fitter's rates and obviously which shaft and grip you go with. I did this a few years ago and even with the fitting time paid less for my driver than what you'd spend for off-the-rack OEM stuff. I put an economical shaft in it.

 

Alternatively, if you're a club builder or fitter, you can go open an account with Wishon, and order the driver head yourself.

While being a Google ninja I saw some talk if the 519 on the Nordic site. I tried translating it to English but didn't get too far. I'm very excited to see this driver. I hope more information comes out soon.

I think Wishon Nordic is a dealer/distributor of Wishon products so they have seen the prototypes. Hopefully they will be out soon. A smaller head with a Wishon designed VTF would be sweet to test out.

They posted a picture of the sole of the new driver on the Nordic Instagram page but it looks like they have since removed it.

Honestly they just showed the text of the name zoomed in so you couldn't really see any shape. The sole was black though like the 919.

I emailed Diamond Golf at the beginning of the week, and they said they hoped to finalize the new catalogue in a few weeks, which would include details on the 519. They didn't say when the club would be available, but I'm assuming it will be around the same time.

Wow, so mysterious. Not a buzz before release, such a big contrast comparing to most companies, which makes the itch worse actually. Would love to get the 519 and pair it with the new Accra Tz6 and see how the combo goes.

I saw the graphical mockups last summer, the pic they showed was near what it saw from wishon nordic but the shape wasnt represented. The big issue was alignment mark or not. I think "not" won. Hopfully.

On the putters, I heard about 2-3 new mallets.

New driver delayed. Extract of message from Diamond Golf - "Many of you will know we planned to feature a new driver as part of this year's catalogue, however due to production issues with the samples and first batches of clubheads which arrived here at Diamond Golf HQ in early Spring, we have decided to delay the launch.

 

The main issue was with the strength of lofts, which would make on-spec handpicking a real problem. There were also quality issues which left us no option but to halt launching to our customers who, as we know, demand a quality product from Wishon Golf.

 

So we have gone back to our foundry partners in the Far East to work on getting much tighter tolerances on our new driver heads with far greater levels of quality.

 

Hopefully our Wishon customer base will understand our decision and agree it is better to wait for the right product than ship the wrong one too soon.

 

It is still our plan to launch the TW519 SHPR in 2019 but later this year.".

This is why I like doing business with Wishon/Diamond. I can't say enough about how well they embody the integrity of the aspects of golf. The transparency, and a few times when something doesn't go as expected, it is remedied immediately. Also, they beat all stateside suppliers when it comes to shipping time. Just excellent.

The new putters look great. 3 mallets and 1 heel/toe. The graphics look sharp from the pictures I have seen.

Unfortunately there has been a delay in the release of the new Driver, so much so that it didn't make the 2019 catalogue. We experienced some manufacturing problems. It is coming though, watch this space.

I am really interested in seeing the new putters. I hope we don’t have to wait for the catalog. I’ll probably be ordering right away.

I'm actually starting to wonder if Wishon as a company is going to continue to happen.

Probably 2020 for the new clubs. Tom's active on his website keeping us updated on the next gen SL irons and other designs.

There should be couple interesting designs coming out next year. Tom has talked about some new designs which are in the baking oven now. Just have to wait and see. And they have redone the Wishon website with more info to golfers and club fitters/makers.

i have played Wishon for a dozen years, had a “fling” with the Srixon driver and 3 wood which are very nice, but put another new 919THI in the bag because nothing feels or performs better for me. I’m looking forward to this new 519SHPR smaller head.

YAY for the info.

Pretty good MOI number for a smaller head.

I like the black. The face W logo is on the large side. Aesthetics are so-so, but I'm sure this beast performs.

What's the new variable face thickness tech? Just a re-sized version of the 919THI for this smaller head?

I don't know if Wishon Golf is into it, but I would love to see the 519 get into the hands of some online video reviewers like the Sterlings did.
