New Odyssey Stroke Lab putters

I must be in the minority but I couldn't tell much of a difference between the stroke lab #7 and the red o works #7 it was sitting next to. I thought both were very nice putters just not much different. I also was not a fan of the bigger grip. I much prefered the pistol grip.

Callaway mavrik max 3 & 5 wood

Ping i200 6 - UW

Finally saw these for the first time. Seven looks fantastic, size is perfect. Tried a couple different models with the different sized grips. All rolled great but really just felt like a counter balance setup to me - not a bad thing just didn’t seem like enough of a difference to warrant the price for me. I could see picking up one of these down the road, especially a Seven, once some used ones start showing up.

Does anyone know what the grip weight is? They say 10 grams lighter but lighter than what? So do they have a 40gram counterweight in the butt of the shaft like a tourlock that can be removed?

Toss up between the #1 and #3, leaning toward the #1. The feel of the SL to me is very pleasant, balanced and different. I hit Ping Sigma 2 anser and ZB2 side by side with the #1 and #3 since the toe hang is similar.

The #3 has more toe hang than the #1. I was fit into the #3 by Sean Toulon and Luke William of Callaway/Odyssey and that is what they told me.

I spent a good 30 minutes rolling these today. They have a lovely feel and they are much better feeling than the O-Works IMHO. They feel similar to the previous EXO line but more stable.

I could be in the minority here but I do not think that they roll or feel quite as well as the Metal X line. Nothing currently beats the roll and pop that I get from my Metal X 2 Ball. For the record, I am referring to the Metal X line and not the Metal X Milled line.

The SL line really does feel great though and the WRX’er in me will probably purchase a SL 2 Ball S or 7S before the year is out.

I really like a lot of the shapes and that they offer so many mallets with a little toe hang. The face-balanced putters don’t work for me. Not a problem with this lineup.

I noticed that the weight kits are available on the Odyssey website now.

Of course, they're $50, which is absurd for a few small weights and a cheap wrench.

Anyone have any thoughts, or reviews on the shaft?

I rolled a SL One for a bit. It felt more in line with an older lighter headweight putter than anything. If I wanted that feel I think I would rather just summon my first-gen White Hot from the bullpen. Nothing wrong with that thing to this day. Not to say anything felt wrong about the shaft but I didn’t think it was some earth-shattering revelation in putter technology.

Got the 7S stroke lab 34” yesterday, standard grip.

Did some measurements:

Swingweight D5

Total weight 550g

Grip weight, standard pistol 75g

The 30g counterweight is installed in the back of the shaft, no problem to change grips. You should be able to get the counterweight out if you want to use your own counterweights.

Standard O-works replacement head weights work fine in Stroke Lab. 7S has two 15g weights in the head.

If you get oversize grip, that should weigh 65g and come with a 40g counterweight in the shaft.

I put a Lamkin Deep Etch on it, that is about 80g and took the swingweight down to D3 since it is more backweighted than the stock grip, which I believe is a type of Winn Pro.

This makes sense. I weighed the Toulon Las Vegas (365 grams) and it came out to D7.

I want the Stroke Lab 7 (double bend) with the alignment line on the top, not the 3 dots. I’ve seen pics of it but have yet to see one in stores. I’ve only seen the 3 dots on both the double bend and slant in stores.

Does anyone know if this has to be ordered directly through Odyssey?

usually the line is for the 7 tanks and the dots is for the regular 7 line. they didnt release a tank 7 to the public only tour issue. i guess you could always call and see but i called and asked if they were coming out with 7 tanks and they said no only tour issue

Picked up the nine. Had one of my best putting days of the year with it. Honeymoon, but:

- Weight feels great

- I like the face (and typically do not like inserts...I thought the Ping Sigma 2, the adjustable line, was waaaaayyy too soft. This feels nice)

- Stock pistol grip felt fine

- Really nice to look at, IMHO, the silver face and black back
