kiawah island tips and tricks

Any way. Solid advice here.

 

Uber really isn’t an option. For the most part.

 

If you stay in kiawah, there are places to go and hang out at night. Not like downtown of course but laid back as mentioned above. But unfortunately, you’ll need to rent a car for the most part. Like others have said, Uber is easy (although expensive) to get to kiawah from Charleston, but the other way would be really tough unless you got lucky.

 

Maybe ask for a resort one way limo/van ride? Not sure if they do that though.

Correct, if the connector is busy, it will be 1:30, but that’s out of Charleston, not in. After a night in the city, after 7:30, traffic isn’t bad. Same for into the city in the morning.

golf rates are $165 ($299 for Ocean) in the coming weeks.  what would the cost be if staying through the resort (without booking as a package)?

what are some the 'other stuff' that are benefits of booking through resort?

also, are pools typically open in Dec (understanding thats completely fluid due to covid)?

I'm not 100% sure on the price difference - maybe 20-25% more expensive for the greens fees if you're not staying in one of their properties. Also not sure on the status of pool availability at this time of year; I've never been there in the winter. The one time we stayed in a condo that wasn't rented through the resort we actually ended up having no access to a pool because the particular community we were in didn't have one, and we had no access to the various resort ones.

I will also echo to stay through the resort.  Prices for golf are definitely lower and as others have said you may not be able to access certain amenities if you are not booked through the resort.  Your outside rental would have to be significantly lower in price for this to work in your favor.  I have found their resort rental rates are not out of hand.

Anyone know what the surcharge is for the ocean course as part of the stay and play packages? Does it vary by time of the year?
