Which irons won't you play and why?

I play all Ping, had a great opportunity and I took it, so you can see in my signature what my bag looks like, that said, I am in Afghanistan and they have sent new goodies to the house, hopefully I can get to use the new stuff in May when I take my vacation...

I won’t play anything like the M5 or M6 irons. Just way too clunky looking for me.

I also won’t play super expensive clubs like PXG. No. 1 I don’t think there’s any great technological breakthrough they’ve discovered and no. 2 I’m afraid I might fall in love with them and have to buy a set.

I’m a lot less particular about woods but again I won’t play any overpriced “ultra premium” clubs because there really is no adavatage of $1000 driver vs a 500 one.

Exactly what happened to me with PXG and now won't give them up !

Callaway and Taylormade. Both overpriced and taylormades terrible marketing. They also churn out new clubs way too often. Would only go with Ping Srixon Mizuno Titleist.

I don’t think taylormade bring out new clubs more than anyone else now, 2 drivers once a year

Look at mizuno with irons recently mp18 blades, sc, mmc, jpx 919 tour, forged and hot metal, now have a fourth between forged and hot metal, hot metal pro

jpx 900 wasn’t released that long ago and that had 3 versions also....

If offered for free like in a sponsorship? I would play anything.

If I’m spending my own money, anything older than 2012 is generally out the door. There are a few exceptions. As for the modern stuff GI like M5/M6 and ping g410 would be fine. it’d be tough for me to play SGI irons like GMax, Rogue X, Cleveland launchers or MGCB. Not to say I can’t if free clubs and money were offered.

Pxg because of Bobby and Taylormade would have to really perform ... their driver and 3 wood does. That’s The only reason I have them. The whole attitude of the company turns me off.
