RIse of Custom Ball Markers

It’s crazy people pay so much for these trinkets. I can’t imagine paying much more than a few bucks for a ball marker or definitely anything over $50. How is a ball marker a better “quality” than another or a better question is what’s the point? These guys make some decent trinkets at reasonable prices although I have never ordered from them.

My ball marker is worth 25 cents (it's a quarter).

 

I was thinking of going cheaper though......

 

Dropping $50 on a ball marker that hides in your bag/pocket is simply silly. It`s yet another "Look at me,and how much $ I have". Golf is very much a "look at my expensive stuff" game. Putter/club covers,ball markers, divot tools, $80 Polo shirts..it`s all about being flashy.

I have a few and really like them, but none of mine are overly expensive.  I have a Mann Made one, Muni Kids, Miura, and two from when I went to Sand Valley and played the Sand Box par 3 course, one is just their basic one and one is a cool copper one from Seamus golf that they hand stamped with my initials and date on an anvil in the pro shop.  

 

My favorite is the Seamus Sand Box one in part because it's very thin and partly because it was just cool to get it custom stamped on an anvil while I was there.  

 

I don't think any were more than $30.  I'll only buy new ones for courses I visit from now on I think since I have more than enough that I like to use already.

My only " Fancy" one is a Bettinardi Tiki from 2018 with the Honu ( Sea Turtle) stamp.  I wish they made them thinner, so I wouldn't have to move it out of my playing partner's line all the time. I'm not a fan of poker chip sized markers. 

I do collect some regular markers from different courses that I play, if they have an attractive logo, but not if they're poker chips size!
