Brooks mentioned on Feherty that he's down 24 lbs this year, but will be able to eat more normally soon. His driving distance hasn't really changed and neither has his accuracy much even though his strokes gained: driving has. Brooks said that we'll know on Wednesday why he is down so much. What do you think his reasoning is?

Well now the announcers will start calling him a "safety" instead of a "linebacker", so we have that going for us.

 

Also I am guessing the reason for the change is that he is burning more calories than he is ingesting.

I actually don’t think it is crazy at all. He certainly is one of the fittest guys on tour and a multiple major winner. Why wouldn’t they ask him?

He was in great shape before. Why would he be asked or want to lose 24 lbs for a photo shoot? Not saying that’s not what this is about, but change your already good body in the leadup to Augusta and the busy spring golf season for a photo shoot? Weird if true.

 

Edit: In my earlier post I meant “naked photo shoot” for something like ESPN The Body, not a calendar.

Probably just general fatigue to make sure he is fresh at the end of a round. They walk 6-7 miles a day for 6 days straight at the end of an average tournament. While it doesn't seem like much it adds up over the weeks.

10 KG is a tidy amount of weight to lose when you are not exactly a Colin Montgomery to start with. Losing weight for a photoshoot would be dumb - just photoshop it like everyone else does.

Wasn't the Body Issue meant to celebrate the fact that athletes come in all shapes and sizes? Wouldn't losing weight specifically for the issue kind of defeat the purpose of it?
