How does the atmos black TS 7 compare to the Pro 2.0 TS 7?

I’m wondering cause I’m looking at both of these shafts for a possible match for either the M5 3w or st190ts 3w. Ive hit the atmos black 6x in the new st190 driver and really liked it.

Driver: TaylorMade SIM MAX (10.5 degrees - set to 9.75 and 1.5 degrees open)

Shaft: Aldila Rogue 130 White 70 TX (at 45" and tipped 1")

3-wood: TaylorMade SIM (15 degrees)

Shaft: Aldila Rogue 130 Black 70 TX (at 43" and tipped 1")

UDI: *** Under Construction ***

Irons: TaylorMade P-7MC 4-PW (1 degree upright)

Shaft: Nippon Pro Modus3 Tour 120 X

Wedges: Cleveland RTX Zipcore Tour Rack (Raw) 52.10, 56.12 & 60.12

Shaft: Nippon Pro Modus3 Wedge 125

Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Mid-Slant (at 34")

It doesn't

To quote Fuji:"The PRO 2.0 is softer handle section than ATMOS, so they're definitely different profiles for golfers seeking a certain type of feel in their hands and also performance wise. Our goal with 2.0 is to get the ball in the air a bit more quickly while keeping spin down (more so than ATMOS). The torque is much lower in the mid and tip on 2.0 than original PRO, so we're seeing lower spin numbers. Tour Spec PRO 2.0 is definitely a stout product with low spin though."

Skipping the marketing BS about shafts themselves being high or low launch/spin, the EI profile is VERY different and will most likely not suit the same player in the same club, either because of delivery or feel. If you want to swing/play your 3W similar to the driver, for instance primarily off the tee, the ATMOS 7x should be a familiar match. If you like to change flight (off the deck) or deliver your 3W at impact in a different way, try the 2.0 or even the TS Blue 7S.

Always try before you buy, You'll most likely know which to pick within a handful of swings.

Sounds great. Thanks for the input! I wish someone around me, other than club champion, had the pro 2.0 to test. I also wonder if the pro 2.0 8x would perform more like the atmos black TS 7x

There is also the Atmos Black8 TS that you could look at. I have the TS 8s tipped 1" in my Ts2. Really a super solid shaft. Little lower off the tee than I thought, but really solid off the deck.

I think I might just go with the pro 2.0 and take a chance. If I don’t like it I’m sure I could sell it

  • 2 weeks later...

I have the Atmos Black TS 6x in my M3 driver and Pro 2.0 TS 7x in my M5 3w. I am KILLING my 3w right now and like the setup as it is. I like a little more “feel” in my 3w compared to my driver, this coming from a tried and true Speeder VC 8.2x TS in my 915F 3w. The Titleist is still very potent but early results on the M5 are VERY promising.

TaylorMade M5 10.5* Atmos Black 6x TS
TaylorMade M5 15* Pro 2.0 7x

TaylorMade P790, 4-P DG 105 Stiff
TaylorMade Milled Grind 50SB, 54SB, 60 Hi Toe
TaylorMade DJ Spider 34" UST Frequency Filtered

The Black TS7 will be lower launching and lower spinning than the Pro 2.0 7 TS

I will say the black maintains great feel for being a L/L Shaft.

I’m glad to hear that about your pro 2.0 TS combo with the M5 3w. I’m pretty positive that’s what I’m gonna go with unless I can get my hands on a Ventus
