Best carry bag for minimalist golf

Recommended Posts

Mackenzie. I have two, both in nylon, a Walker and a Sunday Walker. Love them, absolutely perfect for carrying with a short set. I usually carry 7 or 8. They aren't cheap, but in my experience they're well worth the cost. Last bag you'll ever need.

I have a question for some of you minimalist guys. Do you find carrying a short set easier than using a push cart and a short set?

Been there done that with Moonlite - had 3 spline failures and moved on (got replacements under warranty but got old real quick)!

Not sure just what you mean by minimalist, but the TaylorMade Stand Bag 5.0 (circa 2017) is a light but sturdy bag. New ones on closeout sell for about $99. Four-way divider slots. Rides well on back for carry - if you don't overload it.

Gorgeous bag, can you get all 14 in that?

I want to jump on this thread to ask a similar question; my ‘minimalist ‘ version of golf comes up when I’m traveling. Basically I want the smallest bag possible that can carry all 14 clubs, and pockets enough to hold a dozen tees, 6 balls, and a glove plus my wallet. Most consumables I wind up buying at the destination, but so much of golf travel is carrying the clubs to and from the airport, course, hotel, etc, and my usual carry bag winds up being bulky and overloaded. Do the pencil bags on here all fit 14 clubs? I know I don't have the coin for the MacKenzie stuff, so lets say a budget of $100 with _slight_ wiggle room upward but not a lot. What would be y'all's go to?

The Callaway Hyperlite 1+ I mentioned earlier in this thread will hold 14 clubs. It's pretty tight and will certainly lead to at least a little tangle, but it works. I bought it for an upcoming trip for the same reasons you're mentioning and I think the minor hassle on the course will be worth the less hassle when traveling and transporting clubs.

Yeah the problem is when you have the extra space you tend to fill it. My hardsided travel case with clubs weighed in at 46 pounds and I had to lug that thing around literally a few miles + public transit to and from the courses on my trip. My search is a direct reaction to that, well done being preemptive about it!

I’ll check out the callaway bag next time I’m at the golf shop

For sure, I’ve only played a single round with it so far, but I feel like it has just enough space to be able to fit what you need without room for too much stuff you don’t need.

I got mine on sale online at Budget Golf for $60 plus shipping, last I saw that deal was still going on.

Hey, do you mind sharing where you got the wood stick stand? I've been considering that for my Jones Original. Thanks!

Thanks the most I have tried is about twelve clubs and they fit fine. It’s right as you would expect but not at all unmanageable.

Hey Carlos. I made those stands from some Barnwood on my fathers property in South Georgia. If I make anymore I will let you know.

Check out ClaretDreamer on Instagram. He makes trestle sticks and sells them, I have two sets from him and they are great, highly recommended!
