Anyone found the navy goes "straighter" than the copper (both with the wide white alignment)? My issue is, when I purchased my copper one, I did not get to have a navy one to try and compare with. I felt my copper tends to go right, which I fixed it by changing to a new grip and also changing to left hand down putting. However, I got to try the navy and copper in store 2 days ago, and surprisingly I holed much better with the navy as it went exactly to the intended direction. I just don't need to make any adjustment and it naturally went to wherever I want. The copper in store there also has an issue about going right. I realized my eye sight stayed longer while using the navy vs the copper. Now I'm considering whether I shall sell my copper and get a navy...

I was making more putts with navy. My guess is that the color contrast of the white alignment aid works better against a dark background and I felt it made me see the lines better than the copper. The navy helps me “laser in” my focus and vision of the ball going into the hole. I don’t get that feeling with the copper.

Yes, that's my feeling & suspect too. Anyway I will sell my copper and get a navy. Tks!

Golfalot article.

The standard weights are 6g steel in the 34 and 35 inch length putters and 2g aluminium in the 33 inch in order to keep the swing weight the same with the shorter shaft. If you are lucky enough to live in the USA, then TaylorMade can sell you 12g tungsten weights as optional extras. I guess they must like things heavier over there...

Love my Spider X. Not sue if I'm going to stick with the stock grip though. Probably going back to my old trusty Slim 3.0.

Hated the old Spider Putters. Felt too big. Came down to the X and the Spider Mini. Deal breaker for me was the Mini was not available in a slant neck.

I think is dependent on the length of putter....6g each in 34 & 35 inch putters and 2g in the 33 inch putter....according to the previously posted Golfalot link.

Bought a black one from the previous version to keep the new white cover stashed. Didn't really dig the white one anyway. Got mine off eBay new for about $20. You can also buy them right from TM.

You can always remove the bottom cover and add lead tape inside it. Might defeat the perimeter weighting effect slightly, but if you are just looking for overall head weight, that would probably be easy.

I ordered two 12g weights from TM yesterday. If that's not enough, I'll attempt to add some lead tape under the carbon fiber sole.

I believe the golfalot article weight specs were written in reverse. I believe, taylormade put heavier 6 gram weights in their 33 inch putters and 2 gram weights in their 34/35 inch putters. Heard it in a 2nd swing spider X video with Taylormade putter head R&D guy.......can someone confirm this?

Same concept as scotty cameron...

35 inch putters come with stock 10g weights

34 inch putters come with stock 15g weights

33 inch putters come with stock 20g weights

I believe Taylormade will use the same concept as swing weight decreases when you shorten any club...so you have to add more weight as you go shorter.

That is correct, the article got it backward. Just weighed mine (34" slant neck version) and they are 2g each.

If the putter head weight is ~ 350 grams, you'd have to add A LOT of weight to affect MOI. 1-5% added weight on the outside vs. under sole plate will not be measureable as far as MOI is concerned.

I agree with you. I'm pretty sure adding 20 grams on each end of the putter will not dramatically increase MOI.....but this is just a peace of mind for me....adding weights to the outside perimeter. I've been brain washed by golf companies that talk about MOI and how pushing weights to the outside will make all 3 footers automatic. Lol. Thank you.

Updated with today's results. Needless to say, they were not mixed. They were fantastic. 28 putts, 5 birdies with 4 of them between 10-20'. No 3-putts. After a shaky start, I played the last 14 holes at -3. I haven't been this excited about a putter in years.

Which Spider X setup did you go with? Grip? Color? Alignment Aid? Neck Style?

Copper Slant Neck, Wide White alignment, stock Superstroke GTR 1.0 grip, 34", 2* flat, std loft.

I had a chance to putt with this model pre-release in Orlando in January and really felt comfortable with it. Its the first Spider that I like the looks of and I find it really easy to line up. My biggest concern was the grip as I have been putting with a Superstroke 2.0 for quite a while, but I found that this grip really works for me. I've now made 8 birdies in my last 27 holes and 6 putts between 10-20'; that's usually about a months worth of putts for me.

@"swoll cracker" thats awesome the results you're getting! I am thinking a grip change might be in order for me unfortunately. The Pistol GTR 1.0 seems to be a little too narrow for my hands. I just dont have the balls to change it out yet.
