PING Stealth 2.0 Wedges.... How Is There Not More Love?

Not Far From Par

Recommended Posts

Only 2 rounds and one round trip flight to Florida with iron head covers and the finish is starting to come off near the edge on top of the face and toe. I didn't expect them to look perfect forever, but is this normal?

I don't think so. I have over 40 rounds on mine and the finish still looks great.

So, difference or similarities to iBlades? Currently gaming Callaway MD3, but wondering what if any difference there might be.

Very pleased with those new kids.

Just got 50/54/58 ss and love everything. Coming from G400 set wedges (U/S/L), I have seen a major difference in feel and spin.

The stealth feels fantastic and solid, the are much more versatile and spin lot more.

In the last months I found myself trying to get different shots with my set opening the face for sort of lobs and the like, so I thought it was the time..

Don't regret it a bit. I feel also more confident with short chips that I will not blade it and send it to the opposite side of the green.

I added enough lead tape to it and probably change the swing weight approx. 2 points. A lot better for "me" now.

Have been using mine for some time now. My 56* SS Grind has been probably the best wedge I have owned. Full swing, knock downs, sand shots....All really good with this club. The wear on the sole as others have mentioned look pretty cool after a while too, especially the wear mark from the ball on the face.

I was sort of disappointed when the tuning port fell out of mine after only a dozen rounds. I know Ping will fix it for me, just think it should have been put in a little better. I do love it though.

I have a 50SS and 54SS with the DG 115 wedge shaft and Ping Wedge grip. (58ES on the way). The club feels more stout than the Cleveland RX3 with the standard DG wedge shaft. I haven't measured SW yet. This club swings very smooth. With the 54ss, I am finding it so easy to hit pitches and chips pin high. Frankly, I am still dialing in distances, with my misses a bit long. Not due to roll out, but to good interaction with the clubface, even on mishits.

The 54ss is very easy out of sand and deep rough. It even excels on wet ground here in NE Louisiana where the whole state is bayou due to all the rain for the past few months.

They are performing so well in the cold and wet, I am Really looking forward to playing these on a day above 70* on a course that isn't water logged.

My 56 is a Stealth 2.0 and my 60 is a regular Glide. Both are SS bounce I believe. Gotta get them re-shafted to my length and lie adjusted soon then will see how they perform for me.

When these are in need of replacement gonna go with a matching set, as for which not sure. The TM Milled Grind, Stealth 2.0 (or whatever is current), Mizuno S18, who knows. Gonna get fitted and see but won't be for a year or two.

Like a knucklehead, I realized that my 60 TM HiToe finish was marking my 54 Stealth from bag chatter and making it look like premature wear. Everybody stand down!

I picked up the 58*ES Friday afternoon and played it on a cool windy wet course Saturday. WOW!! This is without a doubt the easiest to play lob wedge I have touched.

Between weather and time, I don't practice like I used to. I always favored the wedges and It helped me remember what hitting quality shots felt like.

Easy to flight, great spin control. I'm really a fan!!

Ping wedge 2.0 stealth users, when ordering wedges do you go with same color code or

with standard black color code? Thanks

I am green code in long irons, blue in short and go to black for wedges. Not an uncommon approach. I just like the wedges to be a little more flat so I know they are not going left. But it really is down to preference and the flight you seek. Does not make a massive difference but these are clubs you want to be spot on and you can tell by how it plays if you need an adjustment.

I still have the original Glides. They’re seemingly indestructible. Am adding a 60 ss stealth.

Lots of really positive feedback here for the heads but having read this, does any one have much feedback re different shafts - specifically DG S400 / Project X say 5.5/6.0, or is the general view that the AWT is the way to go - I can get the S400s in onyx, that has to look pretty cool albeit not too sure about the upcharge from Ping for this!!

Thanks for any help.

I got my 50, 54 and 58 with the DG115 S300 wedge shaft to more closely match the DG105 S300's in my i500's. They are very nice wedges! The face is a bit hot on chips, but I'm loving the 58*ES anywhere inside 85 yards, even work great if short sided.

More love coming. I'm going to switch to a forged 50, but the standard 54 and ES 58.

I was going to go all forged, but 8620 should be soft enough, and the performance and technical reviews are hands down towards the Stealths.

I'm looking forward to having these puppies in a couple of months, and I'm really going to be interested in how the 50 vs 54 feels.

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

I have the original glides that I loved. Always read you should flatten out your wedges. I’m green dot and would assume black dotted wedges.

Are the stealths that noticeably softer than the OG glides?

Heard from Ping rep. AWT wedge shafts are available in black. Would look sweet with all black wedges!? From what I have seen, the black seems to just wear off vs. scraping off(silver) under the finish. I too am worried about what they look like once put in play. But from what I have seen, will be no issues for me. 50/54SS, 60* TS will work well in my bag. ;)

I use the 58 ES grind on tight lies and sand it works great. I havent had a digger or a flubbed shot yet. On longer approach shots from a 100 yards out I would prefer a different grind but I just go after it a little more aggressively and let the sole do its work. I have the 54 SS and love it to. First Ping wedges I have ever played and really have no complaints. I still keep my X forged 64 in the bag when I need to get surgical though!
