Z785 or ST190 driver

The ST190 has better ball speed and is a little more forgiving based on my customers' experience.

As someone who golfs on a certain budget (selling before buying more type stuff), I believe with this year's crop of drivers you can't go wrong with any of them when fitted properly. For me it comes down to 3 things this year, Price, Looks, and Feel in that order. I think the Srixon is the most beautiful head on the market with the Mizuno a close 2nd. The Mizuno has me intrigued which is why I just bought one to see what the fuss is all about.

I don't believe that is true. Those that have hit it have said it keeps up with every other oem when properly fitted.

I only sold mine to give the F9 a go and then sold that to give the ST190 a try. I almost always sell before purchasing another one. With that said if the Mizuno doesn't work out, I will go right back to the z785 and have it in the bag this season. Like I said before I think it is the best looking headshape this year. Plus you can get one for fairly cheap considering it is a new product.

Srixon with the real-deal handcrafted HZRDUS Red is quite a nice combo for the price and is perfect mid-launch. You’re not going to see a major distance difference, and I am a fan of the ST190 look. But the Srixon drivers are underrated. Perhaps Mizuno is offering top shafts as well, but I have not seem a lot of handcrafted HZRDUS in clubs on a rack and I did see a z785 with that build.

I had the 785 with the HZRDUS black and I just couldn't get along with it. It wanted to go left all day and I really struggled to launch it, probably down to the shaft. I would love to try it with the HZRDUS red, but I am pretty sure the ST190G is firmly planted in my bag. It is an absolute beast for me when I step on it... so I have to vote 190 here running away...

I had a 785 at launch (ordered it without even hitting it, probably not a good move) , heard how low spin it was and went for a Tensi Pro Blue X . Big mistake, spun it like crazy. Tried the Pro Orange, which was better, but still spiny for me and a tendency to go left. Tried the Atmos Black, same, also stock HAZRDUS black, pretty much the same. I then gave up. Then the guy at my local shop took in a used Tour ADI 7X with a TM adapter and said I should try it, I was playing an 2017 M2 before (and was a Cobra guy before that), and my misses were also left. This shaft might be my holy grail, totally transformed my M2. I would have loved to try it in the 785....But I do think the head is a bit higher in spin for my swing than others out there right now. I must say I have been intrigued by the ST-190.

Have an ST190 on order. Beautiful looking club very pleasing to the eye. Sound is more solid muted feel compared to my PING G that is very loud. I did an outdoor range fitting and for me it performed best with the Tensei White Shaft X flex 70g, 8.5 degrees. With my +4 AoA, 105 mph SS, I was seeing ~2500 spin, 10-12* launch, 250 carry, perfect height around 100 ft and straight to baby draws. I tried multiple shaft offerings and also the epic flash. I also saw the highest ball speeds with this combo and highest smash factors. I hit the 190G once but its more money so I did not pursue it.

Everyone always says to get fit and I, like most, have not in over 7 years. Man I was shocked. I always played 60 g Stiff shafts and ~10* heads. I was seeing best numbers with X flex shafts and 70 gram range and dropping the loft to 8-8.5. LOl opposite of what I have been doing. Also the outdoor fitting was nice because I think being able to see the shot was very important . I hit some combos 160 ft in the air. The felt great off the face but obviously was not correct. Also hit some that felt great but just looked like it went no where. So it was nice to have that feedback without even looking at the #'s. The pro was great which helps and it was nice in that I really tried to not even care what I was hitting. I had no idea what he was handing me and I just tried to repeat my swing. This helped me realize I'm not sensitive to shaft weight (60vs70) or even flex was not a drastic as I thought it would be.

I demoed the ST190 and the 785 along with the M6, TS2, Z585 and Epic. For me, the 190 was far better than the 785. It was also better than the TS2, M6 and Epic. But for me, the Srixon Z585, was superior to all of them. As stated, you can get good deals on the Srixon's. Don't let that fool you into believing they are not good. Try the 585 before you buy. You might be surprised. Long and a very tight dispersion.

YMMV for me i went from playing a Callaway Rogue last season which i hit ok but not great. Going into this year i have been on a big Srixon movement. For the important part my distance was on par with the Callaway if anything the Callaway edged the Srixon on ball speed by maybe 1 MPH but i had issues with the dispersion of the Callway. During my range sessions over the winter and my SIM rounds i have been incredibly consistent with the Srixon driver. I was finally able to get out for my first round of the year yesterday and i hit the club fantastic. i'm usually a sub 50% FIR guy and i was 12/14 yesterday and one of the two i missed was a big dogleg that i just hit through the fairway on the line i took. I hit the ball plenty long enough for the courses i play so i was looking for consistency more than distance. I think the Mizuno looks like a fantastic club but i have definitely found my Gamer this year in the Srixon.
