Who has gone spikeless and not looked backed

Recommended Posts

I almost exclusively wear spikeless shoes now, although I own a couple of pairs of spikes that work into the rotation every once in a while.

My newer Ecco Biom Hybrid 3 being my favorite. I also own a pair of Adidas Adipower Boost that I really like although their waterproofing is wearing out. I recently picked up a pair of Nike FI Impacts that I wore just Sunday and have zero complaints about those.

I've never had traction issues and I swing pretty dang hard especially when I have a driver in my hand.

I have both types in rotation. working at tournaments we're not supposed to wear spikes and I cannot count the amount of times wet footpaths , stone bridges and such have been actual hazards.

my Adipower Bounce w cleats are some of most stable and grippy shoes ever.

just bought Ecco Bioms and look forward to see how those compare to last years FJ's.

Cally FT hybrids
Hogan Edge GS, 4-PW
Vokey Oil Can 52, 56
Ping Anser 2

I found some on eBay for around $95. Would take a month to get here. Hard to make the investment without knowing how soft they are. Do they feel like just regular old sneakers?

I switched to spikeless about 9 years ago and I haven’t looked back until this year. I’ve played more rainy rounds In the last 3 months then I’ve played in the last couple years and found that I don’t have any traction just walking around in heavily soaked areas of the course. I’ll probably pick up a pair just for rain at some point this year.

For everything else, I’d rather wear spikeless. No need to replace the spikes, they’re much easier to clean IMO, and if I had to leave in a hurry after a round and I forgot my flip flops I can jump in the car and drive off. Wearing on the sole is probably a concern but I have 4 pairs that I rotate with to the point where it’s really a non factor for me

I like them, Asics is all I wear/ have worn since 75' . their style, comfort and quality are unbelievable. Easy transition from course shoes to ... these .. hohar5x272vp.png... I checked that out, and $95.00 that's a deal.

Ive been wearing the adidas adipower boost 2.0 since they came out. Had my first 2 pairs for 2 years + and now bought my 3rd and 4th pair to start the season. I find them to be the most comfortable golf shoes I've worn and have no problem with traction or slipping. They are not in stores anymore but can find great deals on ebay. I might even get another pair and store them away for when these wear out.

May be picking up a pair of Puma Pwrsport NXT's. Fit just like my sneakers. Not sure if I'll get the leather Pro version or not yet.

When shoes with spikeless soles first came out, I acquired several pair and really like them. I had no real issues with traction or stability. But, when I look at the offerings they have today...I will stick with my Dryjoy Tours. Most spikeless shoes today are butt ugly and I refuse to wear a pair of shoes that have white or light tan sole edges. I don't wear tennis/athletic shoes and dang sure not interested in wearing a golf shoe that looks similar. Just an old geezer, I guess.

OP here and a little update. Went with the Adidas Adipower 4orged. 3 rounds in and love them. Live in the PNW and no issues with slipping so far. I should clarify that I have a winter boot with soft spikes but these spikeless will be the norm for a long time.

Watched the match play this weekend and I am seriously confused how so many on this board swing so hard that they slip but so many guys on tour can wear spikeless without slipping.

It's not how fast you swing. Just depends on footwork and range of motion. Guys on your have excellent footwork and are incredibly efficient.
