Anyone that has played these have any experience with the turf interaction with the wide sole? Might consider getting the 8, 9 or PW in the 785 but might be a large gap from the 585 iron loft.

Not saying whether they work or not as I haven't hit them, but I thought the point of these particular soles - the so called tour V.T. soles - was to make turf interaction better.

My fitter loves the 5 series but claims they just do not work for some golfers because of the sole width and I believe that. The TXG guys often fit higher handicappers into 7 series so the sole doesn't bottom out and cause them to hit it heavy. As someone who has a heavy miss I would say I prefer a narrower sole to something super wide. I'm going to try a combo set of these outdoors so I can see how the spin is on course. Very low compared to my AP2 and other players clubs.

I got the Z585’s this year and have played a few rounds with them. They’re a great fit for me and my swing. I come in pretty steep to the ball and have had zero issues with digging or fat misses. I went to a lighter shaft (Nippon 950 GH) and this combo just works. I got fit at Club Champion, so I hit a bunch of heads and a ton of shafts.

Over the past two years, I’ve played APEX CF16, i200’s, AP2 716 and 900 F.

The Cleveland/Srixon PGA tour rep is a member at my club, so I have tried everything they offer, and every year. I think the 765, 565, 785, 585, are all great clubs, and the v-sole is amazing. The v-sole is amazing around the greens and on full shots. They are (any of the four) my second choice, but that is because I am a really high spin player(and don't want to change my swing) and the P790's revolutionized my iron game. The 585's were great in the long irons, but I didn't like them in the short(still a bit more spin than I wanted), and the 785 spun too much in the short irons for me, but other than the Cobra Forged Tec and the 790's, every iron spins more than I would like them too. Once again, my spin is ridiculously high with my irons, so ymmv.

I have yet to see guys that are normal or even low spin players be dissatisfied with the 45, 65, or 85 irons performance wise.

I love my 785s thus far. Had it down to these or the 919T but these were a little more forgiving. I hit the 585s briefly but the feel wasn't as good and I didn't like the thicker sole. That being said they'd be perfect for long irons.

Spent all winter trying everything under the sun and finally had my fitting on Friday. I’m a 9 handicap and my miss is on the toe. My favorites going in were the 585, Mizuno 919 forged and hot Metal Pro, AP3, and Cobra Forged Tec. I ordered 5-A in the z585 with PX LZ 6.0. I was encouraged by the relatively tight distance dispersion on my typical toe miss and on flushed strikes. I had a (surprisingly) slightly tighter overall dispersion with the Ping i210’s but I wanted to go with the more helpful option.

I’m coming from CB3’s and I do like these enough to keep them as a backup, but my toe miss would really twist the club and the ball would fall out of the sky like someone shot it.

Sorry to post on an old thread. Does anyone have Z585 irons with a low spin shaft like the C tapers? Wondering if that combo would produce too low spin numbers? I recently did the mizuno shaft optimizer and wonder if my shaft recommendations would work in the srixon heads which I like better than the Mizuno heads

I dont think you are going to find better performing irons for the price than the Srixon lines...  I'm still gaming the 745s and nothing can kick them out for good.  Many have tried.  If they were to wear out, I'd go with the 785s in a heartbeat.  My buddy has the 585 and compared against my 745s, they really arent that much bigger.

I picked up the Z585 irons and prior to this I demoed my buddies Z785. These irons are one of the best feeling irons I have ever tried. And it was surprising how "easy" it was to hit the Z785, even if the heads were small and how the top line, especially the long irons, is thin. I would have gone into a combo set but I got a good deal on the Z585's.

I can't believe Srixon does not get much love. Truly and underrated brand imo.
