I can think of a few instance where I ended within a few feet of the hole via wormburners that rolled out straight on line but never got more than a foot off the ground. You just have to look at your playing partner and say, "Hey, that'll play"

Fiddlers Elbow, River Course: it’s a short par 4, maybe 330. I pushed my tee shot left and there’s a row of trees and a dry streambed between me and an elevated green, about 20 feet above me. I was only about 60 yards out and I pulled out my 60 wedge with the intent to hit it over the trees and onto the green. Unfortunately, or it turned out to be good luck, I skulled the shot right into the trees. My ball hit a branch and deflected into the top of the hill, flipped up and onto the green. I got up there and saw my ball resting about a foot and a half from the pin.

Par 3, 150 yard carry water with water going past the left side of the green and a hill up the right hand side. Straight is the only option. Sure. Flag about 170 from the t-box. I decide to try an easy 6 iron. I scull it up the cart path on the right where it proceeds to run up the hill on the cart path past the water then jump off and roll down the hill to 3 inches from the flag easy birdie. Never had a hole in one. I think God that didn’t go in.

At my home course I hit a low line drive out of a bunker that hit 3 feet past the hole and spun back to within 6 inches. I have no idea how to even practice to do that again.

I hit a perfect drive, down the middle and set up for my second. I ended up skulling it and it started to skip towards a green side bunker. It was going in so hot, it went through the sand, hit the top lip of the trap, went about 10 feet into the air, on to the green and ended up inside a foot away from the pin for a kick in birdie.

I hit my second shot into a par 5 in Naples with my 3 rescue (at some ultra wealthy enclave). It goes to about to about 2 o'clock and is heading right towards this giant glass window on this $8M house that will certainly require me to take out a mortgage to replace. It hits the only branch of this tree it could richochets, onto the green to 4 ft . I made birdie :(

I was playing a round with my father early in the spring season. We had come to hole 14 on his home course here in Edmond OK. The wind was blowing, as it always is here in the Sooner state, and was into us on this particular hole so I tried to hit a stinging 6 iron to keep the ball low on the 180 yard par three. I hit behind the ball taking about 40 yards off the shot. As I watch the ball in horror I see it hit the cart path, bounce and veer directly towards the green. Then the ball lands on the fringe, rolls directly towards the cup, hits the flag stick, and drops in the hole. My father turns to me and says "that shouldn't count." I laughed and just like that I had my second hole in one. Terrible shot, wonderful memory.

Did not do it myself but witnessed it firsthand and I **** you not it's the truth as farfetched as it sounds.

Shortish par 3 and my mate creates a little grass tee for the ball by tapping the grass with an 8 iron on something. Tee's it up an starts the swing. Halfway down the ball starts to roll backwards and he just goes ahead to hit it anyway. Long story short, catches it a wee bit thin but gets out there. A few bounces and BOOM into the hole. Thank you very much, put me down for 1.

Was in between pitching wedge and 9 a couple years ago decided to go with a knockdown 9. I was knocking it down but came out lower than i expected and stuffed to 2 feet. I go to put the club back in the bag and i had grabbed the 7 iron.

Third shot on a tricky par 4 -- sliced my tee shot into the trees, second one chunked right into a tree. Had a 9-iron that I tried to draw around the tree into the heart of the green. I hit it about 2 grooves too low and it managed to sneak through a little 2ft by 2ft gap in the leaves, landed straight into the upslope on the green, trickled further up and came to rest about 6" from the hole. Had no business saving par here.

My Hole In One would qualify. Par 3 168 Yards. 7 Iron. Was trying to hit a little butter fade, somehow managed to hit a small draw. Landed just short of the pin, small bounce and into the cup.
