Work Trip to Arvada in August

Hey guys. I am travelling to Arvada August 12th to the 16th. I am looking for 2 courses to play that have elevation changes and mountain views. Also looking for some good places to eat and drink. I may have an in to play the Colorado Golf Club but not sure I want to spend $200 to do so. Any help is appreciated!

I live in Arvada. Take a look at Fossil Trace, The Ridge at Castle Pines, Bear Dance, Arrow Head, and Red Hawk Ridge. Evergreen is worth considering too. It's a bit rough around the edges but it's literally in the side of a mountain.

Thanks for the info. The guy I am travelling with has mentioned Fossil Trace. Rates look reasonable. With the exchange on the dollar not sure we want to fork out $250-$300 CAD to play Colorado Golf Club.

Fossil Trace will not have mountain views, and the elevation change is okay, but nothing spectacular.

 

Red Hawk Ridge has some decent elevation changes, and the last few holes offers fantastic view of the whole Front Range. It is pretty much the only course in the area that ticks both boxes. That said, it's a bit overpriced, and it's a pretty short course even from the tips. I don't need to use my driver until the back 9.

Walnut Creek or West Woods or Fossil Trace.

I have played golf in most of the western states and Arrowhead is the most scenic course I have played. That course and bear Dance would be my top 2. Fossil trace is cool but built around a Youth Prison or something like that. Not really scenic when looking out.

Walnut Creek is one of the better courses in the metro area, public or private. Omni is pretty good too but maybe on the pricey side. Fossil Trace will have the better golf over Arrowhead but Arrowhead is a once in a lifetime type experience. You'll never play in red rocks like that anywhere else. For restaurants, Olde Town Arvada is good. I like School House or Tap & Dough. If you want diner food, Ruebens is your choice. For Beers I like Denver Beer Co or New Image. However, if you like Indian food, Yak & Yeti has some of the best Indian food and their beers are second to none.

I would think about Riverdale Dunes at the Adams County Fair grounds in Brighton. A bit due east of Arvada is Green Valley Ranch. The problem is that there are a lot of decent tracks in and around the Denver area.

Some good suggestions above. If you want to stay near Arvada, I recommend Walnut Creek or Fossil Trace. West Woods and Indian Tree are solid muni courses a step below in my opinion. Fox Hollow in Lakewood is pretty close also.

 

Some of the others are very nice but a good drive from Arvada.

Walnut Creek Preserve is a great course (very challenging)I also enjoy playing Indian Tree. I haven't played Legacy Ridge in a while but I always liked that.

Walnut Creek will have decent mountain views, but there isn't much elevation change.
