Mmmm, a long-necked scotchblade 1i.

I bet that's really easy to hit.

My hands are stinging as I type this.

For your further masochistice pleasure there is a matching 2 iron

*puts on gimp suit*

Actually, no, I'm not sure anything can top that 1-iron.

Notice I said "anything" and not "anyone"? Because I am 100% sure I can top that 1-iron, or indeed any 1-iron I handle.

That one doesn't look too bad. I can get an Accuform PTM in the air, the old Mac probably isn't an issue... right? 😉

Dunno. But I'll give it a go on Friday....after I've challenged my playing partners to hit it....note, I said 'after'.

Actually when it came into my hands it had been extended by a previous owner to 42 inches, a positive Frankenstein of a club. First thing I did was to pull it back to regulation 39 inches and throw a grip on it....poor little thing!

Believe it or not it’s actually prettier in person. I was able to get it airborne and close to 200 yards with a really dead, dry grip so maybe after regripping it has a chance to actually be playable. These AP Standard set has moved right to the top of my want list after finding out they existed.

The Palmer Standards are a great set.  There are three iterations of the blades, the 78-84 Standards, the 1985 set, which are a pseudo-scotch blade or slightly flanged flatback blade, and the Original Standards, which have Palmer's signature in the backpad.

There's also a set of First Flight Standards that coincide with the 78-84 Standards.

All of them are amazing.  I've had a set of each, and got rid of them because I'm an idiot.  The lofts are kind of interesting, similar to the FG-17s, but 1* weaker for each club; 18* 1 iron, 21* 2 iron, 31* 5i and 51* PW.

They are parallel bore, and as you can see, pinned.

And there is something extra special about a flatback.
